Summer Bloom Quilt, take 2

Sometimes a quilt pattern just strikes you. Usually I make a quilt once and that's good, I am ready to move onto the next thing, but Summer Bloom is different. In Progress: Summer Bloom Quilt 2

I have been working on a second version of the Summer Bloom quilt. This time I am going super high contrast and bright colors. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to use my stash of Alison Glass Handcrafted batiks (Andover Fabrics). I have had them in a bin along with a collection of cross weave and shot cottons...I think they pair wonderfully: the texture and color of the cross weaves is a perfect match to the batiks. Summer Bloom Pattern is Here!

The Summer Bloom pattern is now available in my pattern shop and on Craftsy! I am so excited to see what you all make with this pattern...the response has been tremendous and I am so appreciative of the encouragement on this quilt. Summer Bloom is challenging, but clever piecing techniques make it not as difficult as it looks, and there is no appliqué involved. I made my sample quilt with fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics, mostly the Lavish collection by Katarina Roccella (spring 2016, still available in stores). I always piece with Aurifil thread and use Hobbs heirloom 80/20 batting...

Finished Quilt Top! Sew Fun Curves

Cue the trumpets: I finished my latest quilt in progress (the top, at least)! I have had so much fun with piecing this quilt. I set out to make something completely new and unique to showcase my beautiful fabrics and colors, and challenge myself with the piecing....I love how it turned out and it is not nearly as tricky to piece as it looks! I am thinking about calling this "Summer Bloom", and plan to write a pattern for it. I hope there will be some interest out there for a pattern.
