Up For a Challenge? *giveaway*

June is here! We are all having a very creative year, right? As we approach the half-way point of the year, we are going to do something special this month: challenge ourselves to finish as many works-in-progress as possible. That's right: make a clean slate, tidy up the studio (and the mind!). Have you ever noticed that it's hard to feel creative when life and/or your space is cluttered? Don't worry, we are going to make it fun with some prizes! Starting a new quilt or other creative project is always so much fun and puts a lot of excitement in our...

Classic Curves Ruler & Pattern Giveaway

I met Julia of Briar Hill designs last October at Houston Quilt Market. She introduced herself to tell me how much she loved using the Classic Curves Ruler and to show me the quilt she made with it. Julia and her partner, Caverly, are launching their first fabric collection with RJR Fabrics, June's Cottage, and one of the samples at Market was the beautiful Petticoat quilt. Petticoat is a unique curved piecing design featuring overlapping scallop shapes that resemble the ruffles of a petticoat. I am so curious to find out how she created this! Julia is releasing the pattern...

Quilt Along Giveaway! The Pixie Star

Are you working on your Pixie Star for the Great Pixie Quilt Along?  We are almost finished with our first step! To catch up on past posts and read quilt along details, Click Here. I decided to do some different things for my new Pixie Medallion...I wanted a different look from the original quilt and to use some of my favorite fabrics from my stash. My initial inspiration was the fabric collection Avante Garde by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics. I've been saving my little stash of it for the perfect project. I am also adding coordinating colors and...

Happy Fall Fabric and Pattern Giveaway!

Happy November! Just popping in quickly to say thank you for all the sweet comments on my new quilt pattern, Sparkle, and also on my little Bikini quilt in the Bloggers' Quilt Festival. I have not been organized enough lately to answer individual comments, but I do read and appreciate each one. I can't believe my Bikini quilt was nominated for viewers' choice in the quilt festival over at Amy's Creative Side. I've never really had success with my quilts in competitions and stuff, so that is pretty flattering... You can vote this week for you favorites (including viewers' choice),...

Skopelos Fabric and Pattern Giveaway!

Last month I had the opportunity to sew with this beautiful new fabric collection by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics, Skopelos. For the blog tour to roll out the collection and give some inspiration for using the fabrics, I made a variation on my Jumping Jacks pattern. Read full post, Here. In the original pattern, I used lots of scraps in bright primary colors with black and white as the secondary design. For my quilt with the Skopelos fabric, you can see it looks completely different just by turning the blocks in a different orientation. This is a versatile pattern,...
