<<update: Giveaway closed, the winner drawn was Linda Douglas. Congratulations, Linda!>>
I couldn't resist choosing stars as our first week of inspiration for September Sewing. I've never met a quilter who didn't like stars and I've never met a star quilt I didn't like! For this week's giveaway prize, you have a chance to win all the starry inspiration with the Curated Quilts issue that's all about STARS (-:
To enter to win, it's easy, tell me if you've made a star quilt and something about it or if you have a favorite star pattern. Extra entry: head over to this...
June is here! We are all having a very creative year, right? As we approach the half-way point of the year, we are going to do something special this month: challenge ourselves to finish as many works-in-progress as possible.
That's right: make a clean slate, tidy up the studio (and the mind!). Have you ever noticed that it's hard to feel creative when life and/or your space is cluttered?
Don't worry, we are going to make it fun with some prizes!
Starting a new quilt or other creative project is always so much fun and puts a lot of excitement in our...
Thank you to all who entered the giveaway from last week! It was fun reading the comments and finding out that the group includes quilters from all over the world. I think the furthest away was Australia (isn't the internet wonderful to bring us together?). We also have friends in Canada, France, the U.K. and all over the U.S. Thanks for introducing yourselves! I hope you comment again in the future.
Giveaway winner is Kelly Paulson. I've sent Kelly an email and waiting to send the prize! Thanks to all who enter. There will be more giveaways coming so keep...
I met Julia of Briar Hill designs last October at Houston Quilt Market. She introduced herself to tell me how much she loved using the Classic Curves Ruler and to show me the quilt she made with it. Julia and her partner, Caverly, are launching their first fabric collection with RJR Fabrics, June's Cottage, and one of the samples at Market was the beautiful Petticoat quilt.
Petticoat is a unique curved piecing design featuring overlapping scallop shapes that resemble the ruffles of a petticoat. I am so curious to find out how she created this! Julia is releasing the pattern...

I decided to do some different things for my new Pixie Medallion...I wanted a different look from the original quilt and to use some of my favorite fabrics from my stash. My initial inspiration was the fabric collection Avante Garde by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics. I've been saving my little stash of it for the perfect project. I am also adding coordinating colors and...
Happy November! Just popping in quickly to say thank you for all the sweet comments on my new quilt pattern, Sparkle, and also on my little Bikini quilt in the Bloggers' Quilt Festival. I have not been organized enough lately to answer individual comments, but I do read and appreciate each one.
I can't believe my Bikini quilt was nominated for viewers' choice in the quilt festival over at Amy's Creative Side. I've never really had success with my quilts in competitions and stuff, so that is pretty flattering... You can vote this week for you favorites (including viewers' choice),...
Last month I had the opportunity to sew with this beautiful new fabric collection by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics, Skopelos. For the blog tour to roll out the collection and give some inspiration for using the fabrics, I made a variation on my Jumping Jacks pattern. Read full post, Here.
In the original pattern, I used lots of scraps in bright primary colors with black and white as the secondary design.
For my quilt with the Skopelos fabric, you can see it looks completely different just by turning the blocks in a different orientation. This is a versatile pattern,...
