Sew Inspiring! Indigo Pattern + Sweetwater Fabrics

Any Sweetwater fabrics fans out there? I have enjoyed the prints by these talented designers for many years. They are pretty much tops at classics like checks, dots, retro florals and themed illustrations. The Indigo quilt is a perfect match for a pack of 10" Sweetwater prints I've had for a long time in my stash...and my wonderful quilt fairy-helper (my Mom) was a great sport to sew up this sample for me. This quilt pattern is perfect for pre-cuts like 10" squares. I admit it's a favorite because it's a really dynamic design and looks great in a variety...

It’s Here! New Pattern, Black Jack

It's all I've been thinking about all week! The newest design for the Classic Curves Ruler is here. Black Jack holds a special place for me because the graphic look and big pieces make it perfect for showing off beautiful colors and prints. I always like a quilt that is easy to make using a basic block, but where the blocks aren't obvious in the final quilt. You get so much movement and interest! Who else loves black and white with bright colors? I have been on this as a bit of a theme for a while now and can't...

This is the week! I am putting the finishing touches on the newest quilt pattern for the Classic Curves Ruler.  I can't wait to tell you more about it and get it into your hands to start sewing.  How would you put your unique spin on this design with colors or prints? I'm thinking I need a version with low volume prints with the rings in bright solid colors. Brand New Sewing! Aurora Stars

One of the things on my bucket list of life is to see the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. I decided to name my latest quilting pattern Aurora after the incredible beauty of the Northern Lights: all the stars, the glowing light and vast array of color. Aurora is one of my new patterns for spring 2017 and the pdf is now available in my pattern shop (Here)!  As you can see and may have noticed on the website, I have been working on some changes around Color Girl. Patterns are getting a new look, my logo has changed up, and...

Links Quilt Now in Quilters Companion

All new! Links is my latest quilt pattern featured in Quilters Companion magazine. This fun and easy quilt is ideal for showcasing your favorite colors. Quilters Companion is not widely available outside of Australia, but you can get this issue digitally at Magzter. One of the reasons I am proud to be a contributor to Quilters Companion is the high quality of projects in each issue. My Links quilt is a great beginner level quilt and quick to make, but there are also a great variety of projects at more advanced skill levels. This makes it a worthy look for...

Happy New Year! and Happy New Sewing! I have a fresh scrappy quilt pattern just right for something brand new in 2017. If you have resolved to sew your stash this year, this is your quilt (-: (find it in my shop, Here) Daisy was originally published in Quilters' Companion magazine last fall and I have seen some wonderful versions already pop up from that. I think this would be a fun pattern to experiment with different...

Indigo Mini Quilt Top, Done!

Last week I showed you the beginnings of this cute little quilt and now I have it finished! My first finished top of 2017. I started with a layer cake (10" squares) of the Aubade Song to Dawn collection from Moda Fabrics. This is an entire collection of basic prints in only blue and white and gray. I wanted to try some very small curved orange peel shapes, keeping the center fabric in tact.   I decided for the start of this year to work on a series of small quilts. This is partly due to a larger project I am working...

Quilting in Blue and White

I am starting a new series of quilts for patterns in 2017 and they will have lots of fun new ways to use my favorite curved piecing! This week I started something new and something I haven't done in a long time: a two color quilt. I had a layer cake of this collection of all blues and gray/white prints (Moda Fabrics, 2016), so I thought, "why not just keep them together and go with a monochromatic scheme?". Blue and white is a perennial favorite and I figured it would challenge me a bit to keep my project to such...

So fun to add a new quilting pattern to my shop, right in time for New Year sewing...or Christmas sewing for those extra ambitious folks! As always, I do all of my piecing with 50 wt. Aurifil thread and also recommend Hobbs batting. These wonderful companies provide me supplies,...
