I want to welcome each of you to the newly expanded Color Girl Quilts. I hope you poke around the shop a bit. There are some really fun new things to see and to make and to inspire!
As you know, I have been designing and writing quilting patterns for several years and I am so grateful for the amazing response and support I have received from the quilting community. I am at a point now where it seemed natural to expand beyond patterns in some way. I thought a lot about where I wanted to go and what my...
It's finally here! The newest quilt pattern to make with the Classic Curves Ruler is now available. Eclipse is the perfect mix of quilty favorites: stars and curves.
Some of you will recognize Eclipse. It is a pattern I wrote and published first in Quilt Now magazine and had the pattern available with templates. Now, I have redesigned it and updated the pattern to use the Classic Curves Ruler. Without templates to copy and cut out and the accuracy you have with the CCRuler, you'll make up Eclipse easier and in less time.
For my sample, I used a variety of...
Happy New Year, Everyone. Hope it's off to a great start. I am super fired up about Color Girl Quilts and can't wait to share all the good stuff I am planning.
This year, I am planning several trips to quilt guilds for talks and workshops...I cannot wait to sew with some of you. (-: But first, I have a mini retreat scheduled here in Central Ohio in February. You'll learn the ins and outs of the Classic Curves Ruler, curved piecing, and make progress toward taking home a beautiful quilt top. My local quilt shop, Quilt Beginnings is hosting...
I visited with Pat Sloan on her radio show this week! We talked about how I got started and a little about my quilting life, plus some tips and ideas for choosing fabrics and color. Listen Here

From the Yellow: cut (4) 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" squares
From the Light Multi print: cut (2) 2" x 1 1/2" rectangles,...
Hooray! I finally have a finish to share. I finished the binding on my hexagon lone star quilt. I went back and forth a bit about how to finish this quilt, but I found this striped fabric in my stash and loved how it pulled all the colors from the quilt together. I was tempted to use a really light fabric for the binding to blend with the white, but I really love how this one frames the quilt so nicely.
You can find a tutorial on how I do my binding Here.
