Whew! Life has been a bit crazy around here. The summer was much busier than I expected and I feel kind of behind on my quilty work. Well, the kids are back to school, vacations are in the rearview mirror, I am rested and fired up for some fall sewing! How about you?
I want to share the newly revised Whimsy Garden quilt pattern with you today. This has been a favorite in my pattern shop, and now it's better than ever. The entire pattern got a makeover, including added instructions for cutting with the Classic Curves Ruler. No more...
Last week I showed you the blocks I am working on for my little Whimsy Garden quilt. This week I got the sashing all sewn and put the blocks together...I just need to add the borders to finish the machine sewing part on the top!
This morning I spent some time choosing fabrics for the circle appliqués and basted a few to get ready for hand stitching. **See my simple method to appliqué perfect circles, Here**
I have nine blocks (this is the small size on the pattern) and the circles will go at the crossroads of the sashing strips. I...
Happy Weekend! A while back I posted about the new fabric collection, Garden Dreamer, from Art Gallery Fabrics. I was really excited to make something with these pretty prints, and the perfect opportunity came up!
Last weekend I taught my Whimsy Garden quilt pattern to a class at my local quilt shop. I decided to make my sample for the class with my Garden Dreamer fabrics. I also added some prints from another new Art Gallery collection, Sage. The colors and prints from these collections look beautiful together!
So, I am making the smallest size from the pattern, which will be...
So happy to have the Whimsy Garden quilt pattern now available in my pattern shop! I sewed this quilt last fall for a feature in Quilters' Companion, where it was published in May. Now you all have the chance to make this unique quilt.
Whimsy Garden is a great pattern to start with if you are new to sewing curves. The blocks are gently curved and come together quite easily. The pattern provides full instructions for the curved piecing and completing the appliqué circles even if you have never done appliqué before, or tend to avoid it (that's me! not usually...
I love this quilt! (I hope it's okay to say that about my own creation). I made this one last fall and it is so exciting to finally share the finished quilt, published this month in Australian Quilters' Companion.
The Whimsy Garden quilt is smallish, great for a baby or child, wallhanging or sofa lap quilt. I feel like the design is so "me", with curved piecing (I love those pod shapes!) and lots of bright colors and prints. The circles are appliquéd, but really easy! See my tutorial on circle appliqué, Here.
It is always fun to see my quilts...
