It's here and you are going to LOVE sewing this pretty quilt! The Sunbeam quilt pattern is now available for sale <<here>> at Color Girl Quilts.
This quilt has been kind of a departure for me design-wise. I also made the original with all solid color fabrics, which is a challenge for me (-;. But I LOVE how it turned out and can't thank you all enough for the kind words and enthusiastic response to this new pattern. As promised, I wanted to show you some ideas for how to make Sunbeam with different looks. Hopefully give you a bit...
What a summer it has been! For better or worse, we have made it this far: school is starting (albeit "home" school) and we all keep on keeping on. I do hope you all have had some chance to enjoy time with family, maybe a quarantine style vacation (whatever that look likes for you!), and plenty of creative time at the least.
If you need a little colorful, quilty therapy, I have a new quilt to share...and a new pattern right around the corner!
Updated: the Sunbeam pattern is now for sale! Find it << Here >>
Last winter, my friend Steph...
I don't know about you, but I just can't get enough of basic, all-over patterned quilts. Take one or two simple shapes, make them nice and big to show off pretty fabrics, and you have something sure to say "happy". The Mod Shapes quilt totally does that, plus! you'll learn a new technique with sewing half circles. It's easy enough to make a quick quilt, super fun to sew, and ideal for large scale fabric prints.
There is now a video up on Color Girl YouTube that's all you need to know to make this quilt. You'll learn how to...
It's here, it's here! I always love sharing a new quilt design with all of you and seeing what you make with it. This month the big reveal is Untamed, the newest quilt pattern for the Classic Curves Ruler. I feel particularly fond of this quilt because I think there is a lot of potential for interesting variations by changing the color placement or fabric style. It's a really fun one to sew and see the pattern come together.
This quilt was born when Sarah of No Hats Quilts contacted me to ask if I wanted to sew something with...
An all-star is the athlete who has it all and looks great doing it....and I am thinking that this newest quilt fits that description. When you take fabulous fabric (prints, colors, the whole package) and mix it with an interesting design that's also super fun to sew, THAT is an all-star quilt!
Today is my turn on the tour of projects to show off the new Everlasting fabric collection by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabric. Sharon was inspired by the idea of marriage, of "everlasting" love. That romance is reflected in the fabric, and the whole collection is gorgeous.
It's no secret that orange peel is my favorite quilt shape. Playing around with ways to arrange these blocks and creative placement of colors creates interesting designs. There's now a two part video series on Color Girl YouTube showing how to make a cute little orange peel quilt. This tutorial takes you through using the Classic Curves Ruler for cutting, piecing the blocks, squaring up and putting it all together.
For our two color challenge (#colorgirlchallenge2019) week two, let's look at how this little quilt looks in black and white! I've figured up fabric requirements for making this striking quilt...
Have you ever just fallen in love with a quilt pattern? I've noticed that the simplest quilts are often my favorites. Other things about a quilt that make your heart happy? Fabrics are a major part, plus: how fun it is to sew and if it's an interesting and engaging design when finished. Well, I think Bloom just might be the quilt that checks all the boxes. You see, I recently finished my second quilt with the Bloom pattern and I'm still in love.
The original Bloom quilt was sewn with fabrics designed by Mr. Domestic (Mathew) for Art Gallery...
There is some pretty new fabric in town...and it demands *just* the right quilt pattern to show off! It's my turn for the Aura Fabrics tour to showcase projects with the latest collection by ever-so-talented Mathew of Mister Domestic.
The Flowering Snowball is one of my all time favorite traditional quilt designs and I have long wanted to recreate it with the Classic Curves Ruler. It took some imagination since the original Flowering Snowball requires several fussy templates to accomplish. I also wanted to simplify it to make sewing it achievable for the average quilter **without tears** (-:
And so....Aura fabrics,...
It's hard to believe it has been nearly two years since I launched the Classic Curves Ruler! You all have been supportive beyond my wildest dreams and it always brings a big smile to my face when I hear from one of you who succeeds at curved piecing and love the tool as much as I do (-:
I recently placed an order with my supplier for a new shipment and felt like it was time to update the instructions insert that comes with the Ruler. I took some feedback from you guys and my observations from teaching a lot...
Any Tula Pink fans in the house? I have enjoyed many of her fabric collections, but my favorites are the ones that really show off her talent for clear, vibrant colors in off-beat combinations. She is one designer that shows incredible illustration and design skills with highly detailed fabrics featuring whimsical and intricately drawn creatures, flowers and geometric patterns. So, if these are the things that make Tula so well-loved among sewists, then she has hit a home run with her next collection, Pinkerville.
I was super excited (and really surprised) when the marketing person from Free Spirit Fabrics asked...
