Welcome to the February edition of the Super Simple Sampler series. Each month I am making a total of eight six-inch sampler quilt blocks. They are all meant to be very basic and easy to sew. The first four each month come from Tula Pink's City Sampler book (see those posts Here). But for those who want to quilt along, but may not own the book, I am also publishing instructions to sew four of my own blocks each month. You can see those blocks, including instructions, Here.
This month our theme is Rectangles. Here is our first rectangle quilt...
What a fun week making Flying Geese blocks for the Super Simple Sampler! These six inch blocks have been a great way to practice my precision piecing...some of the pieces are so tiny. If you are making a quilt with lots of flying geese units, you might like my quick tutorial on my favorite method for chain piecing flying geese blocks. Click Here to see it.
Today, the block is kind of fun because the flying geese are not as obvious...as part of the whole block you see a star rather than the four flying geese. Let's make it!

This month our Super Simple Sampler quilt blocks' theme is "flying geese". These are a bit more challenging than last month when we did strips, but very quick and fun to make nonetheless. This block is part of my monthly series of basic modern six inch sampler blocks. I will show you how to make four blocks with flying geese this week to add to what we have made in earlier months. They will also accompany the blocks I have made from Tula Pink's City Sampler Book (read those posts, Here).
Here is how to make our first flying geese block:

Hi, There! This month of the Super Simple Sampler quilt series we have six inch quilt blocks made with strips. I made the first four from our Book Club book, Tula Pink's City Sampler (see them Here). Today I have the first of four strip blocks that I created to share with you. If you want to sew along with me, you can make all the blocks or just make the ones I am publishing (if you don't have the book). I will provide a pattern for setting them all together into a quilt next summer.
