When You Think it Can’t Get More Colorful…

For those of you following and participating in the Color Girl Challenge this month, here is an update! One of my projects I set out to finish this month can now be moved to the "finish" column. Wahoo. I started this quilt last winter when I got some of the Diving Board fabrics by Alison Glass. I am a huge fan of her fabrics and color choices and I wanted to make something super vibrant. This is also a fun pattern for trying out a new shape to sew with the the Classic Curves Ruler. The design actually evolved as...

The Song of Sirena, A Finished Quilt!

This month is all about finishing our projects, right? Well, I am super happy to finally share a quilt I finished (even though it was last month) to be displayed at Quilt Market in Portland in May. Do you remember the little quilt I made with Tallinn fabrics to celebrate Jessica Swift's first fabric collection with Art Gallery Fabrics? Well, Jessica has a new collection coming called Sirena, and it couldn't be more fun and fresh. First of all, I love the name of the collection, Sirena. A Siren in Greek mythology was a creature of the sea who used...

Sew Inspiring! Indigo Pattern + Sweetwater Fabrics

Any Sweetwater fabrics fans out there? I have enjoyed the prints by these talented designers for many years. They are pretty much tops at classics like checks, dots, retro florals and themed illustrations. The Indigo quilt is a perfect match for a pack of 10" Sweetwater prints I've had for a long time in my stash...and my wonderful quilt fairy-helper (my Mom) was a great sport to sew up this sample for me. This quilt pattern is perfect for pre-cuts like 10" squares. I admit it's a favorite because it's a really dynamic design and looks great in a variety...

New! Tallinn Fabrics Little Quilt

I met Jessica Swift at Quilt Market in Houston last October. She was showing her first fabric collection with Art Gallery Fabrics, and I knew right away it was one for me. The bright, true colors and cute illustrations are too much fun. When Jessica asked awhile back if I was interested in participating in the blog tour to promote the release of the fabrics, I didn't hesitate to say "yes!". She is a such a sweet person, and I am so excited for her success and bringing her artwork to us quilters in fabric. You can find all the...

It’s Here! New Pattern, Black Jack

It's all I've been thinking about all week! The newest design for the Classic Curves Ruler is here. Black Jack holds a special place for me because the graphic look and big pieces make it perfect for showing off beautiful colors and prints. I always like a quilt that is easy to make using a basic block, but where the blocks aren't obvious in the final quilt. You get so much movement and interest! Who else loves black and white with bright colors? I have been on this as a bit of a theme for a while now and can't...

New! Eclipse Pattern for the CCRuler

It's finally here! The newest quilt pattern to make with the Classic Curves Ruler is now available. Eclipse is the perfect mix of quilty favorites: stars and curves. Some of you will recognize Eclipse. It is a pattern I wrote and published first in Quilt Now magazine and had the pattern available with templates. Now, I have redesigned it and updated the pattern to use the Classic Curves Ruler. Without templates to copy and cut out and the accuracy you have with the CCRuler, you'll make up Eclipse easier and in less time. For my sample, I used a variety of...

Brand New! Indigo Pattern Now Available

Now that you've fallen for curved piecing with your Classic Curves Ruler, I have a brand new quilt you are going to love! Indigo is the newest design for the CCRuler and I couldn't be happier to show you these beautiful quilts. If you have a pack of 10" squares ("layer cake") you have been saving for the perfect quilt, you have found it! Indigo is ideal for 10" squares to show off those favorite prints, but the classic design would look amazing in any type of fabric. I would love to see one in batiks or 30's reproductions (-: I...

New! Lagom in Simply Moderne Magazine

I have been so anxious to share a new quilt with you! The latest issue of Simply Moderne magazine is here and so is the Lagom quilt, my new (and current favorite) design for curved piecing lovers. If you have been reading here for long, you know I love orange peel quilts. I think the shape is a lot of fun to sew and you can create a variety of interesting designs. For a bit over a year, I have also been really into adding black to my quilts. So when I saw the Lagom fabric collection from Art Gallery...

One Last Whisper of Summer

It's almost the first day of Autumn, my favorite time of year, and yet I am sorry to see the summer end. I love the warm weather, the flowers blooming and spending time outdoors (not  a fan of winter at all). I have one more summery fresh quilt to share with you. I showed you the finished top for this Picnic quilt back in July, and now I am so happy to have it all finished up! This is made with  my Picnic quilt pattern using the Classic Curves Ruler. It pieced up really quickly and then I worked on...

Getting Creative with Pattern and Color

I finished a quilt! If you can believe it, this is made from my Mermaid pattern. When I set out to make this, I wanted to show how a pattern can look totally unique just by changing how you place the colors or value. For this version of the Mermaid quilt pattern, I replaced the navy blue and white solids with prints, making the clamshell shape. The bright colors in the original were replaced with the solids in this version, but instead of making the colorful humps, I made all the humps in a row the same fabric. This gives the...
