Happy October! It's such a beautiful time of year, happens to be my birthday month (and it's a big one this year, eeps!), and quilting is STILL my favorite thing to do, so let's make it a super colorful month.
First up: FREE U.S. shipping in the shop (discounted international). There are so many pretty new fabrics, let's go shopping! US customers Use code "October" for free shipping site wide. International customers use code "Autumn" for $10 off your order.
Next up: Quilt Along! I am making a Super Simple Sampler to gift my friend. I will be posting here and...
All this week I've been hustling to add fabrics to the shop and expand your options to get exactly the ones you want, as much as you want! This feels like a big step for my little shop and I couldn't be more appreciative of all of you who've given me a chance to send you something pretty. I also couldn't be happier to offer fabrics that are hard to find anywhere else: Tilda Fabrics, Sweet Bee Fabrics, and of course the Classic Curves Ruler, patterns, pattern kits and curated bundles that are one of a kind Color Girl.
It's my turn to show off the pretty new fabric by my friend, Mathew -Mister Domestic- on the Loved to Pieces blog party! This is the first collection that Mathew has designed for Art Gallery Fabrics and it's inspired by love for his daughter and his affinity for all things sewing, especially English paper piecing. When you look at the prints, you'll notice flowers constructed of geometric shapes and plenty of good opportunities for fussy cutting.
Of course, Mathew is one of the most fun people I've met in the quilting world, so I couldn't resist accepting his invitation to...
This month Sharon Holland is having a little inspiration tour for her new fabric collection, Bountiful, with Art Gallery Fabrics. She sent me some of the prints to play with and join her group of makers.
I decide to make a mini quilt from my Pixie Medallion pattern. I made just the center star and first border. It makes a beautiful little wall hanging or baby size quilt.
If you follow Sharon, you know her fabrics are a consistent mix of soft color and artistic prints. Many of the prints feature motifs Sharon draws. For Bountiful, there is a landscape print...
Goodness! Doesn't it just seem like there is always so much beautiful fabric available and we just can't create quickly enough to use it all? I have been feeling that way lately (maybe that's why I have suddenly started making small quilts). The new fabric collection, Wonderful Things, designed by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics, is truly a wonderful thing.
The collection comes in two color ways...the prints on the left in the photo above are the soft pastel palette of Wonderful Things: light pink, mint green and periwinkle blue are whisper soft. These colors get me even more eager...
Have you seen the new Garden Dreamer fabrics by Maureen Cracknell (Art Gallery Fabrics)? I am loving the jewel tone colors and basic prints in this one. Just plain beautiful.
The collection is pretty well rounded with a set of darker prints in fuchsia, teal and indigo, plus a bit of mustard. Then there is a group of light prints that offer a nice contrast to the deeper colors...soft powder pink, cream and seafoam green. Mixed in with all is an unexpected touch of orange. The color mix makes for a versatile grouping that doesn't scream matchy-matchy.
As I searched through...
A brand new collection has landed from Art Gallery Fabrics! Here Comes the Fun, designed by Caroline Hulse (@sewcaroline) is pretty much irresistible to a color lover like me. These are my kind of fabrics: basic prints, a few with text, lots of clear colors and geometric designs. The scale of the prints is ideal for quilting, with a good mix and lots of contrast.
There are lots of options for these pretties...perfect just as they are, you could easily use a bundle of fat quarters and pair them up with a solid color, white or black (or all three!)...
When I saw the Lagom fabric collection at Spring Quilt Market in May, I instantly loved the minimal prints and colors! Lagom is a Swedish word meaning, "just the right amount". That pretty much sums up the perfect fabrics!
Lagom is the latest collection from the designers at Art Gallery Fabrics...a perfect combination of black and white with pale blue and pink. The colors might evoke nursery decor, but the black and white makes it totally hip and very versatile.
The shades of blue in Lagom coordinate perfectly with several recent prints from other Art Gallery Fabrics collections, making the fabrics ideal to fit...
Some fabrics just grab you. I subscribe to the Uppercase magazine, so I saw early last spring that Janine Vangool had designed a fabric collection for Windham. This news made me very excited! The colors and prints are so fresh and basic, I knew from the pictures that I would want this collection. It does not disappoint!
You know I love colorful fabric, but my favorites are basic tone-on-tone prints...so easy to mix and match for scrappy looks and great for piecing because the the pattern doesn't interfere with the patchwork design.
When I thought about my stash, I immediately knew...
Last week I told you about a quilt top I just finished using primarily the new Lavish collection fabrics (see it here). This week I want to tell you a little more about the fabric and look at some ideas for mixing them up with others in your stash.
If you have been reading here for a while, you know I am a big fan of Katarina Roccella's fabric designs. Her use of color and artistic layering of images, painterly touches and unique prints make her fabrics a favorite of mine, and Lavish is her latest masterpiece fabric collection.
