It's my turn (and I am late, please accept apologies!) to share the monthly clue for Cotton Cuts' Mystery Quilt Puzzle.
My pieces are all pretty fabrics from Alison Glass...gotta love these colors! I admit I don't have any idea where these pieces might fit in to the final quilt design. The folks at Cotton Cuts have done a good job at keeping it mysterious. See more of the monthly clue pieces Here to get an idea what we are working on.
This mystery is one of two that Cotton Cuts sponsors each year. During the program you receive a monthly...
It's here, it's here! I always love sharing a new quilt design with all of you and seeing what you make with it. This month the big reveal is Untamed, the newest quilt pattern for the Classic Curves Ruler. I feel particularly fond of this quilt because I think there is a lot of potential for interesting variations by changing the color placement or fabric style. It's a really fun one to sew and see the pattern come together.
This quilt was born when Sarah of No Hats Quilts contacted me to ask if I wanted to sew something with...
So, I write this post feeling a bit sheepish.
I had such a good intentions of finishing up my black and white quilt to submit to Curated Quilts for their black and white challenge and hopefully to be featured in their black and white issue. Well, a few things converged to thwart my success. I LOVE that some of you did it, though! More on that later.
Time constraints aside, I was well on my way to finishing my quilt when I hit a speed bump in the creative process. When I had all the blocks sewn up and I laid...
An all-star is the athlete who has it all and looks great doing it....and I am thinking that this newest quilt fits that description. When you take fabulous fabric (prints, colors, the whole package) and mix it with an interesting design that's also super fun to sew, THAT is an all-star quilt!
Today is my turn on the tour of projects to show off the new Everlasting fabric collection by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabric. Sharon was inspired by the idea of marriage, of "everlasting" love. That romance is reflected in the fabric, and the whole collection is gorgeous.
Two color quilts (specifically black and white) are better than I expected! I thought it was going to be more challenging for me to avoid using ANY color but black and white in a WHOLE quilt. I suppose that my love of pattern and the amazing variety of super cool B & W fabrics made up for the lack of color.
I've seen a few projects come up for the Color Girl Challenge 2019 (#colorgirlchallenge2019 if you're on Instagram or FB). What do you think? could you make a quilt with only two colors?
Sadly, I had planned on having my...

Cotton Cuts Fall 2019 Puzzle Mystery "Cosmos" Quilt Along starts in July! Cotton Cuts is hosting a charity quilt along and I am helping as a host one of the months. Our quilt along lasts nine months and each month is a different clue shared by some of your favorite instagrammers and bloggers (that's me!). We are starting it all off with a GIVEAWAY!
But first: the details.
Each month, one of us will assemble a Puzzle Mystery Quilt...
I FINALLY finished my little pink and white Super Simple Sampler quilt! I'm excited to share this quilt and all the YouTube videos that go with it. These little sampler blocks are free to sew, with instructions right here on the website.
Last fall when I started this quilt, I made video tutorials featuring basic skills for piecing the blocks. These are a great resource especially for new quilters and those wanting to learn and add to their piecing skills toolkit. <<find links to all the videos here>>
This Super Simple Sampler is all pink and white for a special friend....
You guys! so excited about my black and white quilt in progress! We are headed into the third week of our challenge. Are you making a two color quilt with me? <<click to learn about the challenge>>
Have you wondered how to create effective value with two color prints? Here are some ideas.
For my design, I am making a traditional quilt block, the Irish Chain, but making it all new. Hint: there's curved piecing involved! (-:
But first: fabrics. I am going with a strictly black and white palette, no gray or cream or anything. And I want to use prints,...
It's no secret that orange peel is my favorite quilt shape. Playing around with ways to arrange these blocks and creative placement of colors creates interesting designs. There's now a two part video series on Color Girl YouTube showing how to make a cute little orange peel quilt. This tutorial takes you through using the Classic Curves Ruler for cutting, piecing the blocks, squaring up and putting it all together.
For our two color challenge (#colorgirlchallenge2019) week two, let's look at how this little quilt looks in black and white! I've figured up fabric requirements for making this striking quilt...
Have you ever made a quilt with only two colors? I have always enjoyed the old traditional quilts in cheddar and green, blue and white, red and green, and more. For a Colorful Quilter, though, it's tough to limit yourself to just two colors for a WHOLE QUILT! Think you can do it?
Last week I told you about a new-to-me quilting magazine, Curated Quilts.* I love the current issue on curved piecing (of course!), and I saw that they are having a challenge for quilters to appear in the January 2020 issue. Here's the challenge: make a quilt in...
