On (Virtual) Newstands: Quilt Now

It's no secret I like quilting magazines. I like to feature my favorites on this blog now and then. There are so many quilting magazines out there, it's pretty safe to say there is something for everyone. What is rare is finding one that has something for everyone all in the same place. I am really excited to have the first issue of Quilt Now, a brand new magazine from the UK edited by Katy Jones. It is available here in the States in digital form or from Pink Castle Fabrics (I subscribed through Pink Castle). After meeting Katy at...

All Bound Up! part 2: a survey

I'm thinking about binding this week.  Sometimes it seems like a chore to get binding done when you are so excited to be finished with a project and move onto the next one. Binding can seem so tedious. However, I actually pay a lot of attention to binding my quilts. I have a drawer in my stash where I keep only fabric that I have designated to bind a certain project (that way I don't accidentally use it for something else). Yes, I usually have the binding fabric chosen while I am still piecing a quilt, nowhere near the finish....

Quilt Bomb 3

It's that time of the year. Kids are crazy excited because it's sunny outside, the days are long and there is water to play in. Moms are happy to have outdoor playtime, maybe a little anxious at the long days ahead, but happy to relax the schedule a bit.The school year is winding down for my son in second grade, and I wanted to share with you a display in the hallway outside his classroom that I really enjoyed.I think his favorite subject is social studies (other than Phys. Ed.) and this year they were really focused on state...

Dear Stella/Timeless Treasures Challenge Quilt

If you are on instagram, you may have seen a bit of buzz about two fabric manufacturers, Dear Stella and Timeless Treasures, sponsoring a mini quilt contest. You can read more about it Here. The rules were to make a 20" mini quilt using only fabrics made by these two companies (no solids allowed). The idea is to make something traditional into something modern. Now, I don't need another project, but Minis are soooo much fun, and how about a reason to use some stash fabric? Also, I had Lasik surgery last week, so my eyes have only been up to...
