Welcome Winter Fabric Giveaway

I was shocked to wake up this morning to see this scene out my window! Right away, I thought: "forget going to the gym, shoveling counts as exercise, then I can sew!" So, I took my kids to school, came home and shoveled my driveway (feeling quite pleased with myself the entire time), and then snuggled in for a day indoors. At least until school lets out. I am not a lover of winter. And I am certainly not thrilled to see snow in November...we usually have until around Christmas before winter gets mean. So, to warm things up, I decided...

A Finished Quilt and Giveaway!

I finished my little Hula Girl quilt just in time for Sewtopia last week. I am really happy with how it turned out and really happy that I tried some new things on it. (the Hula Girl pattern is available in my pattern shop) One of my favorite things about this quilt is the quilting. For the first time, I tried spiral quilting. Initially, I planned on just doing four large spirals coming from the center of each ring, but after I started I decided to do multiple smaller spirals all over the quilt. Surprise! a “quiet” fabric giveaway

A week or so ago I received a very fun package in the mail: a bundle of five "low volume" fabrics for the Michael Miller fabrics challenge at Sewtopia. I am really excited to have the opportunity to go to the Sewtopia retreat in Salt Lake City in November! It is a weekend retreat filled with shop-hopping and all the sewing we can stand (plus a visit to my mom). The event is partially sponsored by Michael Miller fabrics and they provided the low volume bundles for a challenge project. The only direction was that all fabrics in our chosen...
