I have three of them done now, all pinned to my sewing room wall.Loving the beautiful transformations happening in my garden right now, too. Those coreopsis that are now pink were yellow during the summer when it's hot, then turned pink in cool weather. Cool.Enjoy your weekend.Sharon

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday to All!I am excited to share my piece for the member's gallery show in October, featuring String QuiltsMy mom and I started our string quilts together (see hers in the gallery, Marian's String Thing) some years ago. Isn't it amazing the different directions you can go with the same pattern or concept? I just love hers with the many colors and black mixed in, I am so lucky to be the new owner of it!Miki is showing her Kaleidoscope quilt, a style I really like. Check out her blog by clicking on the photo of her quilt...

Birthday Present

Today is a very important day. Thirty Four years ago my poor mother endured a 50 mile drive to the hospital in labor, only to be greeted with one tiny foot and a bum cheek, thus landing in the O.R. for a C-section. All for the pleasure of having me for a daughter. Thanks, Mom!This morning, with lots of help from my two boys, I opened a wonderful Birthday present from my mom and it was this Sensational Quilt! there are about a zillion different strips of fabric, it is so fun to look at all the prints. Thanks,...

Saturday Sampler #4

Yesterday, my friend Susie came over to sew with me! We made up the blocks for a baby boy quilt using my Frogs and Snails pattern. I just love the blue and yellow! We varied the pattern a bit by changing up the placement of color for the large rectangles and setting them straight, rather than on point. So, I just started checking out Pinterest. Yesterday I was browsing through some quilting boards and was totally shocked to find a picture of MY QUILT! I can't find the pin again to show you the photo, but it was a close...

Whatever you want to call them, most quilters have a pretty healthy to-do, or doing, list. I know I do!don't let that long list of projects get you down,do the hustle!Have you heard that as of last Saturday, there was 100 days left in the year?? so time is a wasting on the 100 Day Hustle...it's a linky party where we all work on our lists, WIP's, whatever, and see what we can do by the end of the year.My "to-do" list:1. Finish binding my charm quilt (it is taking me waaaaay too long)2. finish my bikini bottoms quilt...

Fabrics: My fans are coming together and they are so stinkin' cute. I don't usually care for projects that require making zillions of the same kind of unit, but I don't mind this one.Flowers: Here's what's blooming outside my window:Azaleas in September!? this is Autumn Amethyst, the newest addition to my brood, compulsively purchased on Thursday on the way to work. How can I resist an azalea that claims to re-bloom, has gorgeous purple/pink flowers, and promises fall/winter foliage? I am powerless.I also have a new tutorial on my tut page: Advanced Paper Piecing, the Mariner's Compass.I know, it...

Simple Sundays

Don't you love a weekend day when you just stay home and putter? the boys and I spent much of our Sunday in the Sewing/Play room.H. was very busy writing his book on South American Rainforest animalsthe pictures were adorable and he wrote a little factoid about each, such as "Anacondas do not have venom, they constrict their victim". Yes, he actually wrote that. You can imagine the conversations we have. He is never not thinking about animals. "Mom, what is your favorite marsupial?"C., when he wasn't setting up wars between pirate ships, was alternately cooking for his baby...

Busy week. I haven't posted much, but been visiting other blogs. There are so many inspiring projects going on out there!I picked up one of my UFO's to work on:I started these fans last spring and was interrupted by another project with a deadline for a class. The palette started with this collection:these fabrics are just so darn cute! I added bunches of scraps (lots of Sweetwater, plus dots and more) and voila! A way scrappy quilt filled with adorable prints and happy colors.I have been in the mood to dig, so I am rearranging some plants in my...

Saturday Sampler

Lookie! I sewed it up today. What do you think? I feel like it needs something to frame it, but not sure what to do for borders. Any Ideas? Maybe turn it on point and add corners...This is the first project I have made with solids. Can you believe it? It was a bit of a challenge for me because I love lots of pattern, lots of scraps....but I am happy with it.This came in my mail today:My monthly solids club pack from Pink Chalk (blue this month, a favorite), a garden mag (fun bedtime reading) and the newsletter...
