It’s so exciting to show you another new quilt! I think you’ll fall in love with the Magic pattern all over again. (-:
Ever feel like you want to make that beautiful new quilt pattern, but can’t make up your mind on fabric palette? I do that all. the. time. It’s kind of a paralyzing feeling and makes it hard to get started on new projects.
Of course, as a lover of all things fabric, color and pattern, I’m happy to help you choose a gorgeous selection of fabric…and that’s why my favorite thing about having my little quilt shop online is creating exclusive curated bundles and kits.
Here’s where it gets good: last week I showed you the newest Color Girl pattern, Magic (I totally love it!), and now I’m here to tell you about the kit I put together for a color option that original Magic quilt.
Since the original Magic quilt is so distinctive with that vibrant green, red and navy, I wanted to make a color variation that had a completely different feel. Luckily, getting the pattern ready came at the perfect moment, coinciding with the arrival of Mountain Meadow fabrics by Pippa Shaw for Figo fabrics. This collection was the perfect jumping off point for the new Magic quilt.
The Magic quilt kit includes fabric to make one like mine shown here, which finishes 47″ x 63″. You’ll get the grayish white grunge dot background and blue solid for star outline strips, plus 1/3 yard of ten different prints. That’s more than the pattern calls for so you can have a great variety of prints in your quilt.

What do you think? it’s hard to get enough of color like this! I do love a good selection of nice saturated colors (especially when they include blues and magenta) and small scale prints. These types of fabrics are so ideal for quilting because even as you cut them up, you can still see the colors and patterns and when you have color throughout the print you don’t lose the detail of your piecing to the busy-ness of the fabric. Win Win!
Happy Sewing!
