I have another finished quilt to share…and I couldn’t be happier to display gorgeous new fabrics by Lizzie Clark for Sweet Bee fabrics. It’s my turn on the blog tour for the Alexandria collection. It’s also perfect timing and perfect fabric for the newest quilt pattern from Color Girl Quilts, Festival!
Alexandria is the latest fabric collection by Lizzie and my first time sewing with her designs. This collection is really easy to work with for quilters and stands well on it’s own. I always appreciate rather small scale prints and a collection with good contrast. Alexandria makes a pretty quilting palette with useful tone-on-tone patterns (my favorite!) and sweet floral focus prints that provide contrast and interest. And can we talk color? If you are a Colorful Quilter, you’ll find these rich jewel tones irresistible. I’ve been on a bit of a purple streak lately, and these fabrics definitely satisfied that color crush!
Getting the Alexandria fabrics came at the ideal time to play with an alternate layout look for the new Festival pattern. Isn’t it fun how this one reverses the light and dark? See original Festival quilt, <<here>>.
All the details: quilt is the baby size of the Festival pattern (32″ x 36″), pieced by my wonderful mom, Marian (@quilt.marian) and quilted by Darby Myers (Quilted Squid). There’s Hobbs silk batting inside (my new fav!).
Lizzie has lots of talented makers lined up to show off these gorgeous fabrics and hopefully give you ideas for how YOU might sew with them.
