I am sponsoring prizes for a couple quilting world events that start this month and I thought you might like to join in. I don’t know about you, but I love being part of the quilting community on Instagram especially, but also Facebook and interacting with you who comment here on the blog. It’s extra fun to get involved when fellow quilters issue challenges or hold sew-alongs and blog hops. We are lucky to have social media to connect with like-minded (okay, fellow quilt-obsessed) people all over the world!
Isabelle of South Bay Bella is doing a full year monthly challenge called Sew For Fifteen. Each month this year has a theme to encourage us all to practice or learn new techniques and share with others in the quilting world. There are prizes each month for those who participate and show what they are working on. The skill for January is curves. How awesome is that? One of the prizes this month is a Classic Curves Ruler and pattern from me!
So, if you haven’t fallen in love with curves yet, let this be a little nudge to give it a try. When you sign up for my email list, you’ll receive two free patterns within the first few days of signing up. One of them is “crazy curves” (you don’t need the CCRuler for it, there are templates), so give it a go!
You can read all about Sew For Fifteen and see what the future months have in store on Isabelle’s Website, <<click here>>
This year is the tenth year (!) of Project Quilting, hosted by Kim of Persimmon Dreams. Project Quilting is a fast-paced weekly challenge that runs through March. Each week Kim sends out a theme and your challenge is to start –and finish– a sewing project related to that theme in one week. You’ll submit your project and then voting is open to everyone to choose their favorites. There are lots of prizes up for grabs and you’ll certainly challenge your creativity and open up your mind to new ideas and techniques and maybe find a new love. What do you think? feel like getting involved?
I’m thinking both of these would be great for using scraps and stash (hello, New Year Resolution!) and also for learning new techniques and getting out of a creative rut (hello, another New Year Resolution!) (-;
The photos in this post are part of my current Quilt-in-progress and my Sew For Fifteen project for January. I’m taking part in a blog tour next month to show off pretty new Aura fabrics by Mister Domestic. I’m super excited about the design, I think you curvey piecing fans will like it!
