Envelope, please. And the Kona color of the year goes too….Splash! But wait, there’s more…the stars align and Pantone has chosen Living Coral as their color of the year for 2019. How amazing is it that these two colors are absolutely perfect together? It’s the kind of color romance that makes you want to stop all those WIP’s and start something brand new in the colors of a teeming reef.
Robert Kaufman Fabrics feature over 300 colors in their signature Kona Cotton Solids for sewists. This year, they’ve chosen a beautiful watery blue in Splash to be the featured color. I admit that I am thrilled with it! I don’t usually pay much attention to Pantone or Kona colors of the year, but this year, they really speak to me. Apparently, Splash is a popular color here, because we already had lots of fabrics in Splash blue and shades of coral in the shop. Above, the Coral Reef bundle is a group I put together from a mix of designers and collections. I can’t WAIT to sew something with this. I’m thinking about something with hexagons….or curves….or half-square triangles… (-:

*Most of the fabrics in the bundles are also available in yardage if you want to choose your own favorite combination.
Living coral is a bit more difficult to define. It’s a little bit orange and a little bit pink but deeper than peach. It makes for a really unique one when it looks like a different color depending on what it’s placed next to. I chose two fabrics from the Tula Pink solids collection to stock in the shop for Living Coral: Persimmon and Hibiscus. You choose which you like the best! I wish these beachy colors could take me somewhere sunny! I’ll have to settle for having the sun and water in my sewing room in fabric form while the snow falls outside (-:

And I love both colors! They do go well together. Already working on a pillow cover and a quilt.
