Color Girl Quilts challenge project for quilters

Up For a Challenge? *giveaway*

June is here! We are all having a very creative year, right? As we approach the half-way point of the year, we are going to do something special this month: challenge ourselves to finish as many works-in-progress as possible.
That’s right: make a clean slate, tidy up the studio (and the mind!). Have you ever noticed that it’s hard to feel creative when life and/or your space is cluttered?

Don’t worry, we are going to make it fun with some prizes!Pom Pom quilt by Sharon McConnell using Tula Pink polka dots and stripes fabrics

Starting a new quilt or other creative project is always so much fun and puts a lot of excitement in our hearts. Sometimes that excitement wears off when we see something else we want to make (shiny objects….). This seems to lead us quilters into having a lot of unfinished objects. I know you can relate (-: .

So, I am issuing the Color Girl Challenge for June: Finish!

I have several projects I want to finish, and to keep myself accountable I am going to list three here. If I get more, great, but I at least want to finish these three: My Pom Pom quilt (above) needs quilting and binding. My Moon Flower quilt needs binding. My Pixie Medallion needs it’s last borders and a backing sewn and arrangements for quilting.

Now it’s your turn! This weekend, post a picture* of the project or projects you are setting out to finish in June on Instagram or Facebook. The kickoff includes a giveaway so follow these instructions to enter to win:

  1. sign up for my email list (you’ll get a fun free pattern just for signing up)
  2. add #colorgirlchallenge and @colorgirlquilts to your picture captions (make sure your post is public or it won’t show up for me to enter you in the drawing).
  3. tell us about your project and get excited to FINISH it!

*if you don’t have accounts on FB or IG, leave a comment here with a link to your blog or just tell me what you plan to finish. Your comment can be your entry.

The winner of the Color Girl challenge kickoff gets a Sew Colorful Brights fat quarter bundle and a copy of the Spin! quilt pattern. I will choose the winner on Monday, June 4, in the evening and update here.

UPDATE: winner is Debbie, @laurelridgequilts  Keep posting your progress  and finishes on IG, FB and your blogs all month! There will be more to win.Color Girl Quilts challenge project for quilters

The great thing about finishing, besides having that wonderful thing we made and enjoyed making, is getting to start something new! The to-do list might be a mile long, but clear the current backlog and that new beginning will be even more fun.

Continue to post your progress throughout the month, including #colorgirlchallenge. I’ll share my finishes as I get them done, cheer you on, and at the end we will admire all of our accomplishments. All the finishes at the end will get to participate in another prize giveaway, too.

Are you up for it?

I am barely into the world of tech with my subscription to your blog. :c) I do thank you for the chance to win, however. I enjoy your musings about your unfinished projects. I have some of my own. I am making a queen sized quilt for my nephew and his wife. Slow going, but I’ll get there—if not this month, then next month. I take care of my 94 year old mother, so her needs have to come first.

Just found your site and love your style and content! Just subscribed. I’m knew to the quilting world and am working on my very first quilt! A combination of mixed patterns with blue, pink, grey, and white! I have cut all my pieces and ready to go!

I am not trying to get two entries here—I am more interesting in the pattern for your pom pom quilt in the first photo. Is there an actual pattern? I checked your shop but didn’t see one. Will you make one. I really love that quilt top.
