Lemon Tree Aurora Quilt: Sew Sweet

I finished my little Aurora quilt using the Lemon Tree fabrics…I can’t get over how pretty these little prints are! I was not aware of Tilda fabrics until a couple of months ago. It’s always fun to find a little gem that not a lot of people seem to be sewing with. When I got some fat quarters of their newest fabric collection, Lemon Tree, I knew I wanted to make something that would show off the sweet florals and spring colors. The Aurora pattern was the perfect choice!Aurora Quilt pattern by Color girl quilts with Tilda Lemon Tree fabrics

Aurora is the ideal quilt for fabrics with small scale patterns because they show nicely in the strips and triangles even after being cut up. The small scale prints and clear colors also show the patchwork design well. You don’t “lose” the piecing design, in this case the stars, like you might with large scale or really busy fabrics.

This quilt was a bit of fresh air to sew as I made it in January and into February when it is FREEZING and wet here. As you can see in my picture above, I braved the cold and snow to get pretty pictures. That is dedication, my friends (-: It’s always nice in the middle of Ohio winters to have something colorful and pretty to sew with inside.Aurora Quilt pattern by Color girl quilts with Tilda Lemon Tree fabrics

As always, I sewed my little quilt with Aurifil thread and finished it with Hobbs batting. This one has the 80/20 batting blend inside and I love how nice and light it is…perfect for a wall hanging or baby quilt. Quilting is an all over flower pattern sewn for me by the talented Darby at Quilted Squid. Lemon Tree fabrics were among the first I ordered to stock my newly expanded shop.

I enjoyed making this quilt so much, I have a kit available. The Aurora kit  includes all the fabric needed to make a 45″ x 46″ quilt top like mine. If you want to make the larger size on the pattern, use the full Lemon Tree collection bundle and coordinating solids bundle (you’ll need to get the Aurora pattern separately).

I would love to see your version of this pretty quilt! I hope this gives you a little spot of spring cheer like it did for me. If you  want to make your own favorite pattern with pretty Tilda fabrics, you’ll love all the unique bundles I’ve put together. Find the selection Here.
