In 2018, I want to start a regular feature here and on my newsletter featuring projects made with my patterns and/or the Classic Curves Ruler…by YOU!
I am super excited about this because I love seeing your work on Instagram and the emails you send. Keep them coming, I want to feature you!
Last fall I taught a weekend workshop in Lakeside, Ohio. Sue got a great start on her Whimsy Garden quilt. I love that this pattern looks great in these muted colors and traditional prints. So different from my original Whimsy Garden, but just as pretty. This was the first time (If I remember correctly) that Sue and done curved piecing…pretty impressive, right? Everyone at the workshop loved using the Classic Curves Ruler for their projects. It was my first time teaching with it, and, just as I hoped, it really did help everyone get their cutting done quickly so they could make a lot of progress sewing their quilts.
I was totally blown away when I saw this Aurora quilt made by Saija! If you don’t already, be sure and follow her on Instagram (@saija_elina) for inspiring quilts. (also, her photography skills are tops). Saija used my Aurora pattern and a selection of vibrant jewel tone fabrics for her quilt. I like how nicely the colors pop on the white background and her choice of black and white binding (my favorite, too). Very impressive in every way! Also,I want to be in this picture right now (-:
And finally, I am excited to share with you Renee’s (@bohlman1) version of the Eclipse pattern. This is my latest pattern with the Classic Curves Ruler and will be available here on my website next Friday! Be sure and get your ruler now so you’ll be ready to download the Eclipse pattern and get started right away. Renee did such a great job choosing her colors and prints. You know I love a mix of prints so this is totally my style: prints and fabrics from a variety of designers and companies that coordinate, but not completely matchy. This was Renee’s first time using the CCRuler and I think she nailed those curves! She also participated in my Lakeside workshop, so I was lucky enough to sew along with her and see this beauty come together in person.
I would love to feature you next! If you have made or are working with one of my patterns or designing your own with the Classic Curves Ruler, be sure and tag me when you post on IG (@colorgirlquilts) and use #colorgirlquilts or send me an email with your pictures. I can’t wait to see what you make in 2018!
Sharon
