There is a brand new issue of Modern Quilts Unlimited Magazine out. I am so proud that my Hexagon Star quilt is featured inside!
Hexi Stars is lap size quilt, and, although the design looks like hexagons, there are no set-in seams, so it is a no-fuss make. This quilt was especially fun to make because I used all fabrics in my stash: mostly favorites from Alison Glass and Tula Pink. I love the mix of bright colors with black and white for the stars. The magazine includes the templates and instructions needed to piece the quilt.
As always, I used Aurifil thread for my piecing and finished with Hobbs batting. Quilting is an all-over spiraling design by Darby of Quilted Squid.
How would you make this quilt your own? I am thinking it would be neat to reverse the colors and use black and white prints for the hexagons and bright colors for the stars. Solid color hexagons and scrappy print stars, all those triangles in different fabrics, would be a great scrap buster!
My quilt is in good company in the magazine. The amazing cover quilt (curves!) is by Melissa of Sew Bittersweet Designs. There is a colorful quilt by one of my personal favorites, Becca Bryan, also featured. Look for Modern Quilts Unlimited on newsstands and at craft stores.

Your quilt is just stunning! My favorite color combination is Aqua, Yellow and Gray with White accents so I would probably try some sort of combo of those colors!
Congrats! I got the magazine a few days ago, and your pattern is on my to-do list. I’m mulling over color combos, too.
