One of the things I am working on to prepare for Quilt Market is a new version of my Daisy quilt pattern. I want to make one with lots of bright colors from my stash of polka dots and Alison Glass. I started cutting last week, hoping to have the top done before we went on a planned trip for spring break.
These fabrics totally make me happy. While I was cutting and sewing, the thought kept going through my mind, “these colors are so bright, and so clashy, but so AWESOME!”. I hope you all feel that way about your quilts as you sew. (Not necessarily the bright or clashy part if that’s not your thing, but definitely the Awesome part).
I got quite a bit done, but not even close to finished before we headed to Salt Lake City last weekend ….but, guess what? the best part of this vacation each year is that I get to visit my mom while my boys ski. It has become a bit of a tradition in my family to meet in SLC for spring break. My brothers drive in and my sister comes from Seattle and we get to spend a couple days together.
A huge part of the fun is girl time, including sewing, with my mom and my sister, Emily, so I took my Daisy project with me to work on and finished up the top!
I am super excited to use this large scale rainbow print from Alison Glass (on the right in the photo above). It is a favorite and really needs to be left uncut in all its splendor (-: So this beauty went off to Darby (Quilted Squid) today for some quilting.
What a huge relief to have my last “must make” for Market almost all finished! Now I turn my focus to finishing up new patterns and my next “new” thing that I can’t wait to tell you about.
Have a great week!
Sharon
All of the colorful fabrics blend so well. The large scale rainbow print by Allison Glass is a beautiful addition. Your quilt is stunning!
Bright + Clashy = Awesome! Those fabrics certainly sing to me too and will always make you happy when you see them! Making a Dresden is on my goal list for this year and this is very inspiring!
How fun to meet up with family like that – and I really, really love this quilt top.
