Goodness! Doesn’t it just seem like there is always so much beautiful fabric available and we just can’t create quickly enough to use it all? I have been feeling that way lately (maybe that’s why I have suddenly started making small quilts). The new fabric collection, Wonderful Things, designed by Bonnie Christine for Art Gallery Fabrics, is truly a wonderful thing.
The collection comes in two color ways…the prints on the left in the photo above are the soft pastel palette of Wonderful Things: light pink, mint green and periwinkle blue are whisper soft. These colors get me even more eager for spring than I already am! I have them mixed with some other light prints and coordinating solids from my stash…a baby quilt combo, maybe?
The second color way includes the same prints, but in a bright sassy palette of bubblegum pink, black, and hot yellow. I am not usually a primary yellow kind of girl but I think these are fun. The prints in the center above that I picked out to coordinate with the Wonderful Things prints are also from Art Gallery Fabrics: a new all-plaid (“mad plaid”) collection and one called Letters that is all about numbers and text.
For solids with the brighter palette, I chose to bring in a slightly darker version of the periwinkle along with a bit of green and more yellow. I like how these complement the prints and add a bit of extra color, too.
Since I seem to be in a black and white phase at the moment, I also combined the Wonderful Things prints with some ultra graphic B & W prints…I think they go especially well with a combined group of the light and bright prints from Wonderful things. The high contrast black is fun with the yellows and pinks.
So, what am I going to make with these beauties? I think they would look really cute in a Tipsy quilt, or my Gossamer pattern. I am thinking about using some of them for a dresden plate design. The ideas are still developing…
Have a great week!
