All new! Links is my latest quilt pattern featured in Quilters Companion magazine. This fun and easy quilt is ideal for showcasing your favorite colors. Quilters Companion is not widely available outside of Australia, but you can get this issue digitally at Magzter.
One of the reasons I am proud to be a contributor to Quilters Companion is the high quality of projects in each issue. My Links quilt is a great beginner level quilt and quick to make, but there are also a great variety of projects at more advanced skill levels. This makes it a worthy look for quilters looking for inspiration, to learn, or to make a “lifetime achievement” quilt. (-:
This issue has a beautiful, unique dresden design by Jane Davidson among other patterns with stars, hexagons and hand piecing, plus stories about quilters, shows and news in the quilting world.
The Links quilt is a large baby or throw size quilt that is ideal for 2 1/2″ strips (“jelly roll” or the like). I think it would make a good “boy” quilt, which are not always easy to find. My sample was made with the new fabric collection Desert Bloom (Moda Fabrics 2016) by Sherri McConnell. I really liked these fabrics for the variety of color and contrast and small, useful prints.
I always use Aurifil 50 wt. thread for piecing and Hobbs batting. Links is quilted with a cool zig-zaggy meandering pattern by Darby of Quilted Squid. My mom pieced the sample for me…she is a wonderful partner in my quilting adventures!
