Although it seems I have a long list of quilts I want to make, and several in the works, I took a quick pause the last couple weeks to make up a new version of my Gossamer pattern. I love how this looks so different from the original due to the reduced color palette and minimum of print.
I made this for Hoffman fabrics with their new collection called Sparkle and Fade. These fabrics are making their debut at fall Quilt Market this month, so they will be in stores in the next few months. The entire fabric collection is shades of gray, white and black with lots of metallic sparkle…a great addition to my “low volume” stash!
The brighter color fabrics are Indah batiks, also by Hoffman. Have you seen these? they are from the Me + You division of Hoffman and the collection is gorgeous! I really love the bright colors and really basic prints. The quilt on the cover of my “Sparkle” quilt pattern was also made with these batiks and solids.
So, my pretty little Gossamer quilt is on its way to California and then Houston for Quilt Market, and I am on way back to regularly scheduled Quilts in Progress.
P.S. if you are interested, I am going to be a guest on Pat Sloan’s quilt radio podcast on Monday, October 3 at 4pm (Eastern U.S. time). I’ll be chatting with Pat about quilts, color and choosing fabrics. Click on this link for instructions to listen if you haven’t before.
