The Summer Bloom pattern is now available in my pattern shop and on Craftsy! I am so excited to see what you all make with this pattern…the response has been tremendous and I am so appreciative of the encouragement on this quilt. Summer Bloom is challenging, but clever piecing techniques make it not as difficult as it looks, and there is no appliqué involved.
I made my sample quilt with fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics, mostly the Lavish collection by Katarina Roccella (spring 2016, still available in stores). I always piece with Aurifil thread and use Hobbs heirloom 80/20 batting in my finished quilts. The beautiful quilting was done by Teresa of Quilting is My Bliss.
Summer Bloom was a fun piecing challenge for me. I was inspired to create a new design from (my favorite) the classic orange peel shape. I love what you can do with these funky little pods! I have a few other designs with this shape, check out my pattern shop for Eclipse and Whimsy Garden.
I love the dynamic background element with the gray and white strips and large solid/tonal print squares. I want to make more versions, playing around with colors in the strips, or making them all different…or the same…or ombre!
