Periodically I like to take a breather from starting new projects and really focus on wrapping up some older Quilts in Progress. I think June is a good opportunity to do this, since I just finished my newest design quilt top (see post here), and I have several others that have been waiting awhile.
First up: finish my two hexagon quilts. I just finished the top above, this is a new sample of my Festival quilt pattern. I have been working on getting this one published for my pattern shop, but wanted a new sample for the pattern cover.
I chose a variety of low-ish volume prints from my stash of Art Gallery Fabrics for the hexagons plus coordinating solids in bright colors. This version is arranged differently from my original Festival quilt, and I like it better! Both will be options on the new pattern. To make this a June finish (all the way), I need to get it quilted and bound.
I had hopes of quilting this hexagon quilt myself, but decided to speed up the finish a bit (and let’s face it, it looks way better than I could do!) and sent it to Darby at Quilted Squid. This guy just needs binding! I think I will get it machine sewn this week and take it on vacation this month to hand stitch. I also want to get to work writing pattern instructions.
So, I feel well on my way to getting some finishes in this month. How about you? Ready for a mid-year Finish It Up?
