Had a fabulous time Saturday teaching my Eclipse quilt pattern to a group at Quilt Beginnings in Dublin, Ohio. For my demonstration sample, above, I decided to mix up the original pattern a bit and make my blocks with the pod shapes all different fabrics, rather than using the same print to make a complete circle. I love how this looks!

Quilting class, piecing curves

Pam had never sewn curves and is a relatively new quilter, but she took right to it…sewing her blocks without any problems! She is making her Eclipse with Joel Dewberry prints from the same collection that are found in my original Eclipse quilt.

Becky is an experienced sewist, but had not done curves in quilts yet. She said she came to the class to learn to sew curves “the right way”, but her experience making clothing was a huge benefit. She took to this pattern so easily and completed a full block in class! Her quilt is destined to be a wedding gift.

I always enjoy going to a class and creating with other quilters! it is so gratifying to teach another quilter something they hadn’t tried before and see their success. One member of the class is used to using very calm and traditional colors in her quilts, but she was inspired by some of my other quilts to try bright colors for her Eclipse. She is making hers with Kaffe Fassett prints…and loving it!

I am hoping to have time to work on my new Eclipse this week. If you are working on a project from any of my patterns, I would love to see! tag me on instagram @colorgirlquilts (and use #colorgirlquilts) or post on my Facebook page, Color Girl Quilts.

Have a great week!

Sharon

This is a great design! I love blocks with curved pieces and have pinned this block so I can go back and order it once I’m settled in one place again. We are departing for the South next Monday and will be in flux for a few weeks. Thanks for sharing where we can find your pattern.

I love comments! thanks for stopping by.
