It probably comes as no surprise that I have a new favorite fabric range about every other week, and it is also not a big surprise that I am totally in love with the new True Colors fabrics by Tula Pink. Just look at them. Color Girl, indeed. There are more prints to the range, but I got a little bundle of 12 for the monthly modern fat quarter club at the Fat Quarter Shop.
This range is intended as a selection of blenders, I believe all the prints have been released before as parts of Tula Pink’s previous collections. They are grouped together now in new color ways as great supporting fabrics to most any quilt project. They actually work perfectly with her other brand new collection, Eden, which is coming to stores this fall.
True Colors are absolutely perfect with recent fabrics from Alison Glass, including her current Ex Libris prints (on the left above, from Andover Fabrics), and the 2015 Sun Prints. These fabrics really need to become something: I’m thinking a psychedelic version of Twirling Fans! Just add a background color.
Since I am currently working on a small version of my Polka Dot Bikini quilt pattern, I am in the mood for tone-on-tone. I just love how the True Colors prints look with the light/dark Kona solids from my bundle at Stash! wouldn’t this little grouping be a gorgeous combo for a Bikini quilt? As you can see from my first two combinations, I don’t seem to be in much of a neutral frame of mind…but the True Colors would really pop with white or black as a “background” for piecing, too. If I did want to tone it down a bit, I could always go more monochromatic, pulling the prints in the blue/green range and add shades of blue solids. Quite lovely, and actually rather calm, too.
So now that I have had a good rummage through my stash, and petted my new Tula Pink fabrics, it’s time to get back to sewing…that is the only way to get closer to cutting these beauties up!
