I have spent the last month or so mostly working on finishing Quilts in Progress and writing, but I interrupted myself to whip up this mini Eclipse quilt! This project served lots of purposes, but mostly I wanted to test out the templates for the Eclipse pattern to make sure they transferred to the published pattern accurately. The pattern is all ready to go, but I was kind of dumb and didn’t take many photos before I sent the quilt to England for photography by Quilt Now. Now I am anxiously (more every day!) waiting for it to return. I want to get a pretty photo for the pattern cover (-:
When I decided to make this mini quilt, I wanted to use some of my very favorite fabrics, but not something I had enough of to use for a larger project. You all know I adore Alison Glass designs, and I had fat quarters of these large scale floral prints from her Field Day collection (2014 from Andover Fabrics). I think they are absolutely perfect in a quilt like this, the large pieces and simple piecing show off the beautiful colors and designs. For the light background, I used a print by Leah Duncan, from her Gramercy collection (2014 from Art Gallery Fabrics). This is probably one of my all time favorite “neutral” prints! Isn’t it so perfect as an interesting supporting player for the bright prints?
I am really excited to quilt this and finish it.
