Time for the Super Simple Sampler, six inch quilt block #14. Today I am continuing our theme for this month with another Strip block.
Cutting
From dark blue: cut (2) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips
From aqua/pink floral: Cut (2) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles
from pink: Cut (2) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles
Sewing
right sides facing, 1/4″ seam, press after each seam
1. Arrange the fabric pieces as shown above. Sew the pink rectangles to the aqua floral rectangles along one long side. Press toward the pink.
2. Sew the units made in step 1 together at the center (short side). Make sure the pieces are oriented so the aqua floral print pieces are on opposite corners (like checkers). Press open or split the center of the seam and press toward aqua.
3. Sew the dark blue strips to either side of the pink/aqua unit. Press toward the dark blue strips.
And that’s it! super cute and easy. In case you are wondering, most of the fabrics I am using for this whole project are from the Zen Chic collection “figures”, from Moda Fabrics (fall 2014). This is still widely available in stores…I think the colors are perfect, and just love all the number prints.
