Hi, There! This month of the Super Simple Sampler quilt series we have six inch quilt blocks made with strips. I made the first four from our Book Club book, Tula Pink’s City Sampler (see them Here). Today I have the first of four strip blocks that I created to share with you. If you want to sew along with me, you can make all the blocks or just make the ones I am publishing (if you don’t have the book). I will provide a pattern for setting them all together into a quilt next summer.
Cutting
from pink: (3) rectangles 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
from blue: (3) strips 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
from yellow: (3) strips 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
Sewing
right sides facing, 1/4″ seam, press after each seam
1. Sew one yellow and one blue strip together along the long side of the strips. Make three of these sets. Press toward blue strip.
2. Arrange the three strip sets as shown above. Sew a pink rectangle to one end of each strip set. Press toward pink.
3. Sew the three units together as shown. Press.
doesn’t get much easier than that to make such a cute quilt block! This should measure 6 1/2″
