Today is the day: our third six inch sampler quilt block for November. You can find all the other blocks on the Super Simple Sampler page.
Cutting:
from each, dark blue, pink, light blue, yellow: (1) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ square; (1) 2 1/1″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle; 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle
from white: (2) 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ rectangles; (2) 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles
Sewing (1/4″ seam allowance, right sides facing):
1. Sew the 1 1/2″ pink square to the dark blue square. Sew the 1 1/2″ light blue square to the yellow square. Press toward the blue.
2. Sew the the two square units made in step 1 together, forming a four-patch.
3. See layout above. Sew the 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ white rectangles to opposite sides of the center four-patch. Press.
4. Sew the 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ white rectangle to remaining opposite sides of center four-patch unit. Press.
5. Sew the dark blue 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle to the yellow 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle, end-to-end (shown above)
6. Sew the light blue 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle to the pink 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle, end-to-end (shown above). Press.
7. Sew the two units made in steps 5-6 to opposite sides of the center square unit. Arrange so the colors are on the same sides as the corresponding square in the center. Press.
8. Sew the pink 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle to the dark blue 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. Repeat for the last light blue and yellow rectangles, as shown above.
9. Sew the dark blue/pink strip to the left side of the block center and the light blue/yellow strip to the right side as shown in layout above.
