Happy November! It is time for this month’s installment of Quilters’ Book Club: Tula Pink’s 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. This month our theme is Squares.
Fortunately October here in Ohio shaped up and dried up to be absolutely beautiful. Hoping for an extension of the Indian summer in November. It is so much better to be able to take photos outdoors, and to be outdoors for that matter.
So, on to squares: honestly, I wasn’t super enthusiastic about the squares blocks in our book. It was a bit harder for me to decide which four I wanted to make this month, but in the end I chose to make blocks 75, 81, 77, and 84 (photo above, clockwise from top left).
I did mix up the color placement more than I usually do to make them more my taste, and I also changed block 75 to have larger squares around the edge and no border strips.
I did, however, love designing my own four blocks for Squares. (last month I did triangles, see those Here) My blocks will be posted throughout the coming week, including instructions for making them if you are following along. At this point, I have 20 blocks finished and we will have 24 after making my four Square blocks this week.
I had mine all laid out on my floor while I was sewing these and they look sooooo cute! very exciting.
Here are eight of mine, a mix of all three months: crosses, triangles, and squares. Pretty fun, if I do say so.
Have a great week! I hope you will sew along with me,
