I am so thrilled to announce that Color Girl Quilts (that’s me!) has a featured pattern in the new November issue of AQ (American Quilter) Magazine. This quilt is called Star Crossed. I made it last spring, and you saw a bit of a peek at this as it was developing in my post on “Radiant Orchid“, the pantone color of the year. *edit: this patterns is now available for sale in my pattern shop, click Here
The finished quilt is 60″ x 76″, and could easily be adjusted by making more or fewer blocks. One of the things I like about it is that the design would look great in so many different color combinations. I made mine with blue and lavender, but I would love to see it with more variety of prints (bust your scraps!) or even as a way to feature a favorite collection (grab a Layer Cake, fat eighth or fat quarter bundle!). The magazine features the full pattern to piece the quilt and the AQS website has a blank coloring page you can use to plan your own layout.
The hardest part of making a quilt for magazine publication, and I am not complaining, is making a whole quilt without being able to share! It kind of seems like forever after I make a quilt before it actually appears in print. The turnaround is about six months from when I make and turn in the project and written pattern/illustrations until it actually sees the daylight. So this is such an exciting day!
I hope you like my latest pattern and have a chance to check out the magazine…it is a nice issue full of inspiring and amazing quilt winners from the AQS shows in the last few months, plus a feature article on Carolyn Friedlander and her journey to success in the quilting industry.
