Happy Sunday! A fun announcement here at Color Girl: a new pattern is now available. This is my modern ring quilt called “Hula Girl”. You can find it in my shop or on Craftsy.
The pattern includes very detailed instructions and clear diagrams to get you started on paper piecing if you have never tried it. I also have a couple of tutorials in photos, Here. The quilt shown on the pattern finishes at 44″ x 53″, so it is perfect for a baby or child, a snuggle or a wallhanging. My current version has only five rings, so it is smaller. I think it would be cool to make a long version with a single row of interlocking rings for a runner. The blocks are very adaptable to the look you want.
This quilt is really fun…I made my first edition last year for the Modern Wedding Ring Challenge and I am now working on another, you can see it Here. My mother made up the sample that you see on the cover of the pattern and in the photos on this post. It is a really fun quilt: all kinds of different “Low Volume” prints for the patchwork background and bright solids for the rings.
I hope you like the quilt and consider trying out the pattern to make your own! Pull out your scraps and stash of solids and get to sewing.
