Hooray! I finally have a finish to share. I finished the binding on my hexagon lone star quilt. I went back and forth a bit about how to finish this quilt, but I found this striped fabric in my stash and loved how it pulled all the colors from the quilt together. I was tempted to use a really light fabric for the binding to blend with the white, but I really love how this one frames the quilt so nicely.
You can find a tutorial on how I do my binding Here.
I am having a girls week away with my mom and sister, so we headed out for photos by Lake Washington. Such a beautiful setting!
While I took these pictures, there were hydroplanes landing and taking off from the lake right in front of us. Then we headed to a favorite local quilt shop for a bit of fabric fix and dreaming. Most of the time we are just enjoying the time together, sewing at my sister’s house….all the windows open, dog sleeping on the floor, cool breeze and occasional raindrops…it is beautiful!
The quilt was pieced with fabrics from the Bonnie & Camille collection called “Happy go Lucky” for Moda Fabrics spring 2013. I started with a precut honeycomb stack but eliminated some (white ones) and cut extras from some fat quarters I had. The white background is Kona “snow”. A total of 54 hexagons are needed for the star. It was long arm quilted by my local favorite, Jane, in a fun swirly all-over design.
Getting back to quality sewing time! Have a great week,
sharon
Congratulations! I love the binding choice, and the backing fabric is so fun!
That is just beautiful! I love it and the swirl quilting.
Beautiful!!! Love the textures.
It is so beautiful! Is it your pattern? I guess it is pieced by machine.
I really love this quilt, Sharon. Great design! Very tempting.
FYI, the first photo is sideways. I guess no one else wanted to be the one to point it out, so I’ll take the hit!
Lovely finish. Very fresh and crisp 🙂
Quilting is beautiful and i really love the blue star outline. Lovely photos, looks like you had a lovely photoshoot.
I love this quilt…the colors are great and the binding really sets if off! You always do such lovely work. Could you tell me where I could get this pattern please? Thank you.
Thank you for making this quilt my birthday gift, Babita. I miss you already!
Did you use a pattern?
Did this ever become a pattern or any hints. I adore this
