Today I am joining in the “let’s get acquainted” blog hop organized by Beth at Plum and June. I have been blogging my quilting for almost two years, but I just recently moved into this new site, so the hop came at a good time. If you are new to Color Girl, welcome! and Old Friends, it’s always good to have you visit.
I am the Color Girl. My two favorite hobbies are quilting and flower gardening. The more colorful, the better.
A bit of quilty tid-bits about me, I wonder how many we all have in common?
1, The color you will find in (nearly) every quilt I make? Blue
2, The color(s) you will find very rarely in my quilts? Red and yellow
3, I would buy any quilting book if it was written by…Kathy Doughty 4, I would buy about any fabric if it was designed by…Alison Glass (Pat Bravo, too)
5, I like fussy piecing: paper foundation piecing, curves, hexagons (Y seams don’t scare me!)
6, my mom taught me to quilt, and we still sew together every chance we get.
My very favorite thing about quilting? designing fun blocks, patterns, and quilts to share with others. I have a little pattern shop on Craftsy, and I have lots of tutorials on this site. Stay and look around a bit!
I have too many “favorites” to include here, but I am really proud of my “polka dot bikini” quilt and my flower garden.
have a great week!
Sharon

I am not a huge fan of yellow either but certain shades are growing on me lately! Purples, greys, and aqua are colors that tend to show up in my quilts! π nice to meet you!
I think you definitely have the right blog name – your quilts are gorgeously colourful! And blue is my favourite colour too, but yellow has grown on me a lot recently, I think it’s a close second now.
I love your lust for colour .. you make such happy quilts. A colour that shows up in my quilts alo is pink … that’s what I get for having two girls :0)
You definitely live up to your blog name!! I love colour and your quilts show them off well!
Nice to meet you, Sharon. Paper foundation piecing is on my list to try. Blue is the colour that appears the most in my quilts. Your work is stunning.
We match up on 5. Something has to be a lot scarier than a little old Y-seam to frighten me too!
Pink is in most of my quilts and purple and black rarely get look-ins.
Oh my. Yellow is my very favorite color of all times! But you know I think your work is stunning!
Such beautiful quilts, and fabric! Blue is the colour I am most drawn to, so it’s in a lot of my quilts too, though green is a close second.
Blue is my absolute favorite color, and I love blue, white, and yellow together. I really struggle when I need to use pink; it just isn’t easy for me to incorporate somehow!
Your flowers are gorgeous and so are your quilts! I also enjoy fussy piecing and y-seams aren’t bad, they are just a multi-step process. I think we might be sisters–most of my quilts include blue, don’t include yellow (although I’m starting to challenge my color phobias). π
Hi there, fellow blog hop host! Wow! You really are the colour girl! The orange and pink one at the top of the post is luv-er-ly! Blue makes it’s way into a lot of my quilts, but not all of them. I tend to have phases of certain colours – a while back it was lime green. Now I’m kind of obsessed with teal/aqua.
My mom taught me to quilt, but I don’t enjoy fussy piecing. I love simple quilts. My least favorite color is orange, but I love quilts with a white/cream background.
Love your color choices. I used to not use yellow but have found myself using it more and more lately. I love Alison Glass too, in fact I’m doing a Texas quilt using her Sun Prints line, and I love it.
Love your bold and vibrant colors! Beautiful designs!
Love that first quilt you posted! And I think it’s funny that you mention rarely using yellow right under a quilt that incorporates it (though I see how it works into the color scheme). Nice reading more about you! And I love that polka dot bikini quilt too!
I love the colors in your quilts, so bright! i love the first quilt you posted, the pattern and colors are great. Nice to meet you, and thanks for the introduction!
I love your work – so bright and fabulous. My daughter says, “Wow, that’s a cool quilt!” about your first quilt.
Beautiful quilts – love that Polka Dot Bikini. The Treasure Map quilt is so fun. I love flower gardening too. Glad I found your blog!
Hi Sharon, your use of colour is amazing π I love your quilts, and share your love of Alison Glass fabrics π
Love your flower garden! I’m a hopeless gardener but we have a wildflower area in our housing estate that is gorgeous at the moment! Beautiful colours in your quilts!
Your quilts are wonderful, Sharon. I’m looking forward to seeing more of them and have added you to my blog reader.
I can see you certainly love colors. Your polka dot bikini quilt is hard to miss. I can relate to loving hexagons and hardly using yellow π
Hi, Sharon! Glad to pop over for the hop – a little late but summer has gotten quite out of hand for me it seems. I love your Polka Dot Bikini pattern – it’s still sitting at the top of my to do pile, and once school’s back in swing, I hope to start on it. I was a bit intimidated by the curves when I received it, but have since done a few small projects with curves and am over the fear : )
I feel so bad for being late to the party – I didn’t even realize you were part of our hop! π I’ve loved your patterns for a long time – Especially the Polka Dot Bikini! π I just have to finish a mountain of things before I can get back to that. I saw that Quilter’s Way (one of my LQS) is now selling your patterns – that must be so exciting!
Hi Sharon – love your doggy photo. π I used to work in an art gallery where the resident black lab slept under my desk every day. Come to think of it, that was my second job where a black lab slept in my office. Hm. Anyway, I’m loving the riot of color in your quilts! Yellow fabric can be difficult, but I like to use it when I find out that really works. There’s one by Jenean Morrison that is my go-to yellow. Hope it never runs out! I use most every color in my quilts except for pink. It’s funny, I tend to garden with no red flowers and quilt without pink! π
