Good Evening, it is February 20th, and that means it’s time to check our progress on the Polka Dot Bikini Quilt Along. Our goal for today is to have 16 of the center blocks done, how did you do?
I have seen some great pictures on Instagram and Flickr…so exciting to see the projects and different ideas for colors.
Tonight’s post topic is the border blocks. Our goal for the next link up, March 6th, is to have four border blocks plus the four corner blocks completed.
I got my markers out again to experiment with some ideas for those checker borders. In the diagram above, I placed the colored squares in diagonal rows in each block. This kind of reminds me of the scrappy trip-along blocks. You could organize the colors like this in a planned way.
I love how this looks with the squares in a checker pattern all over. Be Warned: this one takes planning! The placement of the colored squares is not the same for each block/corner.
…then cut the strips in 3″ sections. These sections are then sewn together randomly to create the block components:
Now it’s your turn! if you are quilting along with me, please link up your progress. You don’t have to be at the goal, just show what you have done so far. You can link up your flickr page or a blog post, or leave a comment and tell us how to find you on Facebook or instagram. I will draw one person from the link up to win a prize next week, stay tuned!
Please be sure and link back here to this page if you are writing a blog post.
thanks for joining me! I hope you are having fun with this quilt,
