Beach Comber

Beach Comber Quilt

I have a “new” pattern in my Craftsy pattern shop: Beach Comber.

This is not a completely new pattern as I released it before I rebranded to Color Girl and made improvements on all my patterns, so I should say this one is “Back!”

I made this quilt last spring, starting with a layer cake of “Lucy’s Crab Shack” by Sweetwater for Moda, and the bright solids. Pretty soon I found myself picking out the low volume (light) prints from my layer cake and adding more from my stash.

The baby size quilt (shown) can be made with a layer cake and there are instructions for cutting from a layer cake as well as yardage. The pattern also includes quantities and instructions to make a queen size, which I would love to see: It would be gorgeous!

Some ideas for mixing this one up a bit?
Use your stash of black and white or other favorite collection of prints in place of the low volume background. (do you hoard polka dots? super cute!)
Some of the online shops are carrying bundles of “text” fabric, which would be great for this.
Reverse the value and do the “background” prints in a favorite color, collection, or scraps, and replace the solids with white to contrast.

it’s so nice to post these warm weather pictures and such a light and bright quilt! I hope you all are staying warm out there (except you guys in Australia….I am so jealous of all the instagram pictures of vegetable gardens and trips to the beach!)

keep smiling,
