Double Wedding Ring: finished top

What can I say? this is a bit wild.
When the NY Modern Quilt Guild put it out last summer that they were holding a show and tell of double wedding ring quilts, I was really excited to make a modern variation. The design evolved a couple of different times during the sewing, but here is the top. Ready to baste and quilt…racing to get it done by the December 1st deadline!
this photo shows the blocks laid out on my sewing room floor before I sewed them together, but I like the close-up of all the fabrics.
I started with fat eighth bundle of Notting Hill fabric by Joel Dewberry, only using the pink/orange and green/blue color ways. I also added lots of pieces from my stash, including solids to tone it down a bit.
The loud colors did not keep Cleo from falling asleep
I admit that I ma not confident of the success of this concept. Is it just too much? maybe. It reminds me of those colorblindness tests where you look at a bunch of colored dots and see if you can pick out the numbers hidden in the contrasting colored dots.
Must get to quilting it.
I will be back Friday with our Midnight at the Oasis QAL post, I am loving how my quilt is looking!

Looks pretty amazing! It is pretty busy, but I think it works both as a concept (pattern-wise, I mean) and in the way it looks. When I stumbled across your posts about the Midnight at the Oasis quiltalong, I got looking into patterns by Jen Kingwell and found another one I really love, which I’ve already forgotten the name of… Gypsy something, which is also a pretty busy looking quilt, but it’s just amazing. Anyway, point being: nothing to worry about. Sometimes Too Much is exactly the right thing.
