Marcelle, Supersize Me!

zippity doo dah! I am totally tickled with this project.

This is progress on my Marcelle Medallion quilt. I added border 1, the light gray strips with bright green cornerstones. But I wanted my quilt to be bigger…and I am totally in love with this floral print, so I cut big triangles out of it to set the medallion on point. (I know those day-glo green corner squares are kind of out there, but I love how they coordinate with the floral print)

I have two of the four border 2 strips done, piecing the equilateral triangles on freezer paper as a foundation to keep them from getting too unruly. They are larger than the pattern calls for, too, so my quilt is growing fast!

These colors and fabrics just make me feel good.

What should I use as the corner squares on border 2, at each end of the triangle strips? the bright green again? or should I piece them with half-square triangles?

  1. That looks just beautiful! Love the idea of adding the big triangles, the fabric is gorgeous. And yes, I would definitively use the bright green again in the corner squares and in the following borders. It really makes the quilt sparkle.

  2. Loving the bright green. Nice choice.
