Something (sew) New

I am pretty proud to show this little project,

Last night I attended a class at a new local shop to learn how to make a zippered pouch. I have wanted to try making a bag but needed some guidance on zippers as well as overall 3-D sewing skills.

I have lots of leftover batting scraps from quilts, so I used that instead of buying interfacing to give the bag body.

the exterior fabric was quilted to the batting prior to sewing up the bag. I used my latest favorite quilting style: the wavy stitch on my sewing machine. For FMQ-challenged people like me, it is a way to make quilting look a bit fancy when all I really did was stitch straight!

I am excited to try some different things with my new Zipper Skills.

Happy Wednesday!

  1. Your zippered bag is so cute. I, too, feared zippers & found a great tutorial for a zippered pouch & just did it! That was only a few months ago & now I am adding zippered pockets to the lining & now even the outside of the totes & purses I make. Opens up a whole new world!

I love comments! thanks for stopping by.
