NY Beauty Class

I am finally getting around to telling you about my NY Beauty class a couple of weeks ago. Judging by the warm reception to my post about paper piecing for the blog hop last week, it sound like there are lots of foundation paper piecing enthusiasts out there.

for my class at Quilt Beginnings, we were getting started on this quilt. I posted about this last summer when I finished it. It has been hanging at the quilt shop since September and I just got it back. I like it better than I remembered.
I enjoyed a Sunday afternoon with three ladies, sharing my techniques for paper piecing and we had a blast. Amazing how quickly four hours can go!

This is Julie, she came to my class, and had never done foundation piecing before! Look at her fabulous arcs layed out in front of her! I bumped into Julie at the shop yesterday and she said she was still working on her quilt and definitely had the hang of the piecing.

This totally  made my day!! I always wonder after classes if people go home and toss their project in a heap of UFO’s. I hope that I will see Julie’s finished Beauty some day!

Some have asked about the patterns I showed on my post last week, here is some info:

  • The compass blocks are from the book “Reach for the Stars” by Brenda Henning. I have written tutorials on making some of these blocks. Find them Here and Here
  • The Village Green quilt was made from a pattern by Janet Miller (The City Stitcher Quilt Collection). The quilt was originally a BOM, I believe, but I purchased the whole set of patterns (12 in all) several years ago at a local quilt shop.
  • The NY Beauty blocks in the quilt above are from the book “Beauty ‘n Check” by Janice Ellertson and Jodel Yover. Setting and quilt construction are my own design. See a tutorial for doing the curves my way Here.
Enough fine print for one day.
Have you seen the daffodils and tulips? they are trying so hard to come up.
