Mod Century: a fun collection of colorful prints |
For my birthday last fall, my mom gave me a gift certificate to a great (little) local quilt shop, Sew to Speak. I actually went in on my birthday and they had a remnant of essex linen (linen/cotton blend fabric) that caught my attention.
I am a sucker for remnants. Therefore, I purchased this beautiful piece of fabric with a wee bit of my gift.
The piece I bought that day is the beige/grayish that looks just like classic linen and I realized it would be perfect with my Mod Century fabrics.
A bit of texture.
A bit of retro flare. (something about the linen says “macrame plant holder” to me)
A nice contrast to the riotous color and pattern in the Mod Century fabrics.
On another visit to Sew to Speak, I found (remnants) red and black, too. The black is cool: it has a white cross weave so it is really textury. Now I have the building blocks of a project!
I also decided to add the yellow and blue essex linen fabrics for a bit of punch. This is my next quilt!
I am linking up with Melissa and Shanna and setting my January goal to finish this quilt.
Happy January Quilting! it’s 2013, it’s cold, and we are off!
I adore working with Essex linen – cant wait to see this grow :o)
You are ambitious, planning to finish a quilt you are just starting. I like the fabrics you picked.
Yum! I can’t wait to see what you do with these. And the blue is awesome in the mix!
Thanks for linking up!
Gorgeous fabrics! Girl, you have such an eye for mixing those colors! Looking forward to seeing what you create!
Oooo I love those fabrics and colors! I can’t wait to see what you make.
