What Shade Are You? A First…

I did it! I actually made a quilt with solids. This is my first time ever doing it and this quilt is my contribution to the What Shade Are You? series by RJR fabrics. Each friday they feature a quilt made with their Cotton Supreme Solids and have a giveaway (more on that in a minute). This quilt was outside my comfort zone in a couple ways. Besides being my first ever without any prints, I had to choose the fabrics ahead and stick with them! RJR sent me a color card with all their solids and I chose which...

Solids or Prints? Yes, Please!

My main focus recently has been getting ready for quilt market in May. It is a sewing industry trade show for fabric people, designers, and publishers plus other sewing folks to show off their new products to wholesale buyers. I am going for the first time as an exhibitor! I have a little booth to plan and prepare, which is more than a little daunting. I hope it gives me a chance to show my patterns to lots of quilt shop owners. BUT...in between all the good work, I still need a little sewing time! This week I started my...

Bits and Bobs, and all the Colors!

A couple weeks ago I showed you my little Flowering Snowball quilt in progress...I was experimenting with how to make the block without using the usual templates. It worked out, but my blocks were a teeny bit wonky so I had to add sashing to square them up a bit. WELL! This little top is finished and I love it! It's so imperfect, yet so lovable....with all those cheery colors and prints. I am loving this sunny little quilt in this gray month of the year. I am happy with the decision to add the sashing. Not only did it...

Sharing Quilt Market: a Giveaway

I've been away recently attending Quilt Market in Salt Lake City. Quilt Market is a twice-yearly gathering of wholesale venders to showcase their products and sell to the owners of quilt shops and such. This year, I decided to go and try to give my patterns and cards out to shop owners to introduce myself and patterns, and to (hopefully!) increase my wholesale sales. I also met with some magazine editors I am hoping to do some projects with. All in all, the event is super big, super exciting, and a bit exhausting. I can only imagine how it must...

Tipsy! a sweet finished quilt

During the last little bit of my spring school semester, I squeezed a little time in to make a new Tipsy quilt for quilt market this month. Brenda Ratliff of Pink Castle Fabrics has a new fabric collection, One Room Schoolhouse, showing at market (will be in stores in July) and she asked me to make a sample to display in her booth and show off the fabrics. You may be familiar with Brenda's first collection, Pie Making Day, (RJR 2015) which was a bright colorful take of classic feed sack prints. The new collection is vintage inspired, too, with...
