New! Fly Over Quilt Featured in Quilt Now

Issue 20 of Quilt Now Magazine has arrived, and I am so happy to finally share a quilt that I designed and is featured inside. Fly Over is a scrappy star quilt with a twist! Perfect for scraps and stash. I made Fly Over during a rather long period between fall 2014 and spring 2015...it was one of those that I worked on a bit here and there between other projects, and loved every minute of choosing fabrics and sewing it. My color and print inspiration started with the two Art Gallery Fabrics collections Winged and Indelible (2014) and then...

Archer Quilt Pattern Featured in Quilt Now

This month's issue of Quilt Now Magazine features some beautiful quilts and other projects, including my Archer quilt and pattern. I made the Archer quilt last spring as part of the blog tour showing the new Etno fabric collection by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics. Be sure and look at this post for all the details and pretty pictures. Archer is a baby size quilt just right for a beginner quilter or if you are just experimenting with modern quilt designs. I love the unique shape that Archer incorporates...we don't see too many quilting patterns using the equilateral triangle,...

New Quilt Pattern: Festival, in Quilt Now

This month's issue of Quilt Now magazine features my new quilt pattern, Festival. My quilt (shown below) was made with fabrics from the "happy home" collection by Caroline Hulse for Art Gallery Fabrics (on sale now) as well as a couple prints from my Art Gallery Fabrics stash. I used Hobbs Heirloom batting and Aurifil thread for piecing. Long arm quilting by Darby of Quilted Squid. *note: there are some errors I found in the pattern in the magazine, see bottom of this post for explanation and corrections* I had fun making this quilt with all the bright cheery colors, and the Happy Home...

Quilt Now issue 11, Featuring “Spectrum” Quilt

It seems like so many quilts have come to fruition in the last couple of months! I have had so many new patterns to share with you all at once, but let me assure you that all these are the product of months of sewing and writing...they just seemed to get published back-to-back. When it rains, it pours, right?   I received my copy of issue 11 of Quilt Now Magazine recently and it contains a really simple, but fun to make quilt pattern that I designed and sewed last summer. I wrote about this quilt in a previous post, Here. I...

An Unidentified Quilt

You can't go wrong with polka dots on quilts, right? I would like to introduce you to my "Unidentified" quilt, in all its polka dot, bright colorful splendor! Now, I know it seems like I have had tons of finished quilts to show lately, and before you get too impressed, you have to understand that many of them were made over the course of the past year. I made this quilt last June (almost a year!) and I am so happy to finally share it.   "Unidentified" is featured in this month's issue of Quilt Now, hitting subscribers this week in...

Quilt Now Featuring “Pops!” Quilt

My, how the months go by! It seems I just told you about my Gossamer Quilt in issue 9 of Quilt Now and here we are on issue 10. This issue is running on the theme of bright and cheery quilting and sewing projects. The quilt on the cover was made by Nicholas Ball (@quiltsfromtheattic) and uses small scraps for the abacus beads, fused and appliquéd to pieced strips. This issue has many projects great for using scraps, including quilts and bags. My new pattern, called "Pops!" is one of the featured quilt projects. It is machine pieced hexagons, all...

“Pop”ping in with a New Quilt!

I am so happy to finally share this finished quilt, called "Pops", named by my lovely mother. This was the main project I worked on last summer at Camp Stitchalot, the fabulous Michigan retreat hosted by Brenda of Pink Castle Fabrics. I got this wild idea to piece hexagons to show off my favorite fabric stash prints, and to add tiny triangles, so that when the hexagons meet you get the effect of small "popping" hexagons in bright colors. The quilt is crib size, not too big. Quilting by Jane Williams. Yes, this is all machine pieced. It takes time, but I absolutely...

Quilt Now issue 9 Featuring Gossamer

Issue 9 of Quilt Now has landed in the United States! So excited to share this issue with you...including my Gossamer Quilt pattern (on the cover!) I was utterly shocked when Katy emailed to tell me my quilt was going to be on the cover. I was so excited of course, but it's also such a compliment, because this magazine has so many great quilt patterns. Here are a few of my favorites,   The Churn Dash is a popular favorite among the classic quilting blocks. This pattern includes instructions for a full size quilt and a cute little cushion cover....

Quilt Now, issue 6, Featuring Eclipse Quilt

I am so excited to share this quilt pattern with the world! I previously posted about my Eclipse quilt, Here. Now you can make one, too, if you have the latest issue of Quilt Now. I know that Quilt Now is not widely available in the States, so for my fellow Yankees, I will have the pattern available to purchase soon, too. Issue 6 of Quilt Now is filled with great projects to sew as well as newsie stuff about new fabrics and sewing industry people and gadgets. I think it is so cool that this issue has two curved...

My Scrap Quilt in Quilt Now Magazine, plus Giveaway!

Last June I had the fantastic opportunity to meet Katy Jones at Camp Stitchalot retreat in Michigan. At that point, I was interested in doing more pattern publications in magazines and she was getting ready to launch a brand new quilting magazine based in the UK. We talked, she liked my quilts, I liked her, and now I present to you "jumping jacks", my first quilt project published in the current issue of Quilt Now. This magazine is fun because each issue has a basic theme, and this month we have scrap and stash sewing patterns. I made my "jumping...
