The Sketchbook Lucky Baby Quilt

I recently released a brand new quilt pattern called Lucky. This sweet design is so much fun and simple to sew...it is perfect for any occasion. Today I want to share a baby size Lucky quilt I made using my friend Sharon Holland's, fabrics called "Sketchbook" (Art Gallery Fabrics 2015). This size is included with the pattern as well as the larger one I showed you before plus an even larger size. For my Lucky baby quilt, I decided to make the nine patch blocks in scrappy prints rather than all pink. I like that it gives the overall design a slightly...

Finally Finished Quilt: Trillium

In my quest for finishing, I am super excited to show you my latest quilt, Trillium! I pieced the top for this one during the winter but just got it quilted (by Darby of Quilted Squid) and finished the hand-stitched binding on vacation last week. (find my binding tutorial Here, I do it both ways: machine or by hand, depending on the quilt and my mood) The fabrics featured in this quilt are all from Art Gallery Fabrics, primarily the Avante Garde collection by Katarina Roccella. I also used Hobbs batting and Aurifil thread for piecing...my favorites! The piecing for this...

Finished Quilt Top! Sew Fun Curves

Cue the trumpets: I finished my latest quilt in progress (the top, at least)! I have had so much fun with piecing this quilt. I set out to make something completely new and unique to showcase my beautiful fabrics and colors, and challenge myself with the piecing....I love how it turned out and it is not nearly as tricky to piece as it looks! I am thinking about calling this "Summer Bloom", and plan to write a pattern for it. I hope there will be some interest out there for a pattern. The fabrics are primarily from the Lavish collection...

Spin Art Quilt in Quilts and More Magazine

I have exciting news! My newest quilt design is featured this month in Quilts and More Magazine. The quilt is called Spin Art and is even on the cover of the magazine! I hope you look for it at your local bookstore and quilt shop. Spin Art was made with the new Zen Chic fabric collection, Flow, (Moda, 2016) and let me tell you, these fabrics are wonderful! The colors are beautiful and pair perfectly with Zen Chic's last collection, For You. The Flow prints are basics, making them easy to add to any quilt design. I really like them...

AvantGarde Fabrics: Simply Gorgeous!

It is my turn to show off Katarina Roccella's latest fabric collection for Art Gallery Fabrics and I am so excited to share my quilt! I have loved every collection Katarina has designed, but I really think AvantGarde is my favorite yet. The colors are absolutely delightful: bright and deep jewel tones mixed with black and white. The prints and colors also mix well with her previous collections, especially Imprint (2015) and Indelible (2014). For my project with the fabric, I wanted to play off the geometric shapes and use large pieces to really show off the prints. I decided...

Finished Quilt! Eclipse Pattern take 2

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Sewtopia, a retreat for quilters and sewers, in Portland, Oregon. One of the projects I took with me to finish is my little Eclipse quilt, and I am so proud to say that I did it! This little quilt is made from my Eclipse pattern (available to buy here/or in print from quilt shops). I started this quilt as demonstration for a class I taught at my local shop in October, and I kind of can't believe I finished it so quickly...working it in around my school work and family...

Bloggers’ Quilt Festival! The Little Bikini Quilt

Twice a year, Amy's Creative Side sponsors a fun, virtual quilt "show" for bloggers. I haven't entered the show in a while, so I thought this year I would add my latest Polka Dot Bikini quilt. This is a smaller version than the original pattern, and I made it just this last summer as part of the Kona Solids tour with Stash Fabrics. Even though it is my third version of the Bikini quilt, I have to say I had a blast making it and really love how it turned out! This quilt is also pretty special to me because...

New Quilt to Make Now! Sparkle Pattern is Here

I am super excited to finally have the Sparkle quilt pattern available in my shop! Download and start sewing today (-: Sparkle was originally published in Quilters' Companion (in Australia) magazine last June for their special issue on pre-cuts. You can see my original Sparkle quilt, Here. For the pattern, I wanted a different sample, and my mom was so sweet to sew this quilt for me. Huge thanks to her and to Hoffman Fabrics for providing fabric from their new collection of modern batiks, You and Me. These fabrics are seriously gorgeous, if you haven't seen them yet, check...

Quilt in Progress: a new Eclipse

I am starting a new, smaller version of my Eclipse quilt pattern. This is going to be part of my demonstration pieces for a class I am teaching this weekend. I think this is going to be such a fun quilt...I love these bright colors and modern prints! I am thinking about mixing up the prints in the circles, rather than placing the four alike ones together to form a complete circle. What do you think? I am also trying it out with navy blue in place of the yellow. I have several blocks sewn, ready to add the stars. I...
