Finished Quilt! Eclipse Pattern take 2

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to go to Sewtopia, a retreat for quilters and sewers, in Portland, Oregon. One of the projects I took with me to finish is my little Eclipse quilt, and I am so proud to say that I did it! This little quilt is made from my Eclipse pattern (available to buy here/or in print from quilt shops). I started this quilt as demonstration for a class I taught at my local shop in October, and I kind of can't believe I finished it so quickly...working it in around my school work and family...

Quilt in Progress: a new Eclipse

I am starting a new, smaller version of my Eclipse quilt pattern. This is going to be part of my demonstration pieces for a class I am teaching this weekend. I think this is going to be such a fun quilt...I love these bright colors and modern prints! I am thinking about mixing up the prints in the circles, rather than placing the four alike ones together to form a complete circle. What do you think? I am also trying it out with navy blue in place of the yellow. I have several blocks sewn, ready to add the stars. I...

Finally Finished: Mini Eclipse Quilt

The last couple weeks, I have written about working on this little quilt as my "Quilt in Progress", so I am happy to finally have it finished! This is a miniature (about 30" square) of my original Eclipse Quilt (pattern available Here or on my Craftsy Shop) that was featured in Quilt Now magazine back in December. Honestly, I have so many quilts in progress, and a million more inside my head and sketch book, I don't know what possessed me to re-make this quilt other than that I really love the design. It is a unique way to use...

New Quilt Pattern: Eclipse

Hooray! the Eclipse quilt pattern is finally available. Please visit my pattern shop here on this site, or Craftsy to purchase. I am extra excited about sharing this quilt...it is probably my favorite of at least the past year. I usually have a hard time choosing favorites among my quilts, but I just love how this quilt turned out... the combination of stars and curves, the colors and fabrics, and the amazing quilting by Judi Madsen. The pattern includes full size templates for cutting the curved shapes, they are all pieced with no appliqué and no foundation/paper piecing. You can...

Mini Quilt Table Topper

I have spent the last month or so mostly working on finishing Quilts in Progress and writing, but I interrupted myself to whip up this mini Eclipse quilt! This project served lots of purposes, but mostly I wanted to test out the templates for the Eclipse pattern to make sure they transferred to the published pattern accurately. The pattern is all ready to go, but I was kind of dumb and didn't take many photos before I sent the quilt to England for photography by Quilt Now. Now I am anxiously (more every day!) waiting for it to return....

Finished Quilt! Eclipse

I am so happy to be able to finally share this quilt! This is one of my favorite quilts that I made this year, and it is called "Eclipse". I sewed it last spring but didn't share the details because it was going to England and is now published in Quilt Now magazine. I think this is a very exciting quilt design because it combines some really fun piecing techniques, including curved piecing, and really pretty fabrics (of course!). It was quilted by the always fabulous Judi Madsen of Green Fairy Quilts. I started out with a fabric bundle of...
