Twirling Fans: Indie Boheme Style

Have you seen the new fabric collection from Art Gallery Fabrics designed by Pat Bravo?! For each new collection, AGF releases a beautiful look book of inspiring projects featuring the fabrics. These look books are seriously amazing...if you are interested in design and photography, you will enjoy seeing the AGF team's gorgeous styling and creativity in each of these unique inspiration guides. This past spring, I had the opportunity to sew something for the look book with these gorgeous Indie Boheme prints. I made a baby size quilt using my Twirling Fans pattern. The Indie Boheme fabrics are the latest...

For the Love of Fabric: Lagom

When I saw the Lagom fabric collection at Spring Quilt Market in May, I instantly loved the minimal prints and colors! Lagom is a Swedish word meaning, "just the right amount". That pretty much sums up the perfect fabrics! Lagom is the latest collection from the designers at Art Gallery Fabrics...a perfect combination of black and white with pale blue and pink. The colors might evoke nursery decor, but the black and white makes it totally hip and very versatile. The shades of blue in Lagom coordinate perfectly with several recent prints from other Art Gallery Fabrics collections, making the fabrics ideal to fit...

Finally Finished Quilt: Trillium

In my quest for finishing, I am super excited to show you my latest quilt, Trillium! I pieced the top for this one during the winter but just got it quilted (by Darby of Quilted Squid) and finished the hand-stitched binding on vacation last week. (find my binding tutorial Here, I do it both ways: machine or by hand, depending on the quilt and my mood) The fabrics featured in this quilt are all from Art Gallery Fabrics, primarily the Avante Garde collection by Katarina Roccella. I also used Hobbs batting and Aurifil thread for piecing...my favorites! The piecing for this...

AvantGarde Fabrics: Simply Gorgeous!

It is my turn to show off Katarina Roccella's latest fabric collection for Art Gallery Fabrics and I am so excited to share my quilt! I have loved every collection Katarina has designed, but I really think AvantGarde is my favorite yet. The colors are absolutely delightful: bright and deep jewel tones mixed with black and white. The prints and colors also mix well with her previous collections, especially Imprint (2015) and Indelible (2014). For my project with the fabric, I wanted to play off the geometric shapes and use large pieces to really show off the prints. I decided...

Ring Around Quilt, the Pattern is Here!

One of my favorite quilts from the past year, Ring Around, is now available as an individual pattern! Click here to visit my quilt pattern shop to order the pdf download now. Ring Around was originally published in Quilters' Companion magazine in Australia, so for those who couldn't get hold of that magazine, you can now make the Ring Around quilt, too. This is a new variation on my favorite ring style quilt, with a slightly more square-ish curve...it's just as easy to piece as your usual curves, but really creates a unique and dynamic finished design. If you like...

For the Love of Fabric: “For You”

One of my all time favorite quilting fabric collections is "For You" by designer Brigitte Heitland (Zen Chic) for Moda. These fabrics came out last summer, and I was lucky enough to get a layer cake (10" square precuts) of them right away, which I made a quilt with...I can't wait to show you that later this year...but kind of wished I had some more. Last weekend I managed to snag some pieces on sale while traveling. You see, the colors and prints in this are so "me", I think, and so useful. They are bright without being crazy, just...

Bloggers’ Quilt Festival! The Little Bikini Quilt

Twice a year, Amy's Creative Side sponsors a fun, virtual quilt "show" for bloggers. I haven't entered the show in a while, so I thought this year I would add my latest Polka Dot Bikini quilt. This is a smaller version than the original pattern, and I made it just this last summer as part of the Kona Solids tour with Stash Fabrics. Even though it is my third version of the Bikini quilt, I have to say I had a blast making it and really love how it turned out! This quilt is also pretty special to me because...

New Fabric = New Quilt in Progress

A couple of weeks ago Pat Bravo posted on Instagram that she was looking for sewers to create with her new fabric collection, Etno (for Art Gallery Fabrics), and be part of a blog tour to show off the possibilities for the prints. Of course, there were a ton of responses, I didn't think I had a chance...but I was thrilled when I got an email from Pat that I was selected! Hooray for new fabric, right?! So, I wanted to write a quick "W.i.P" Wednesday post today and share a bit about what I have planned for these. But first...the...

Around the World of Quilting: Rachaeldaisy

Many of you have probably seen the Around the World blog hop posts popping up on quilting blogs over the past year or so. I did a post as part of the tour last summer, and I was tagged again a couple of weeks ago by Amy Smart. Since most quilters (at least all the ones I asked) have already done the Around the World post, I decided to take it in a different direction and skip the part about myself and tagging future bloggers to post. I wanted to tell you about some of my favorite quilters instead. Today,...
